So damned sad.
One of my best friends just called and told me that her mother passed away unexpectedly in the middle of the night. I'm still in shock. Her mother was a wonderful, vivacious, completely loving and caring person, and utterly without rancor. She was hilarious and funny and spry. She was one of those people who just seems permanently young at heart.
When I was on my huge trip of doom last year I stayed with them, and it was Easter time, and her mother made me a little Easter basket for Easter morning, and even though I was about as far away from home as I could get, I was home there, too.
Sometimes when I called I would talk to her on the phone, and she was always so funny and sweet, and I was so very much looking forward to seeing her again next year when I go to CA.
I'm just so heartbroken for my friend. They were like peas in a pod, and I just can't imagine how awful this feels. I am sitting here crying because it's so sad, and thinking that it's a drop in the bucket compared to my friend's loss.
