The One Year Anniversary Spectacular!

Exactly so. A year of LJ slowly becoming more and more important in my life. A year of introspection, and a year where I finally realized that I really want to write. No, really. I want to write.

I've met so many awesome people, found so many wonderful pieces of fiction and art...LJ has brought me a lot of laughs, and a lot of new friendships. I love it. Thank you all! As a happy ceremony, I thought I'd mention all of the mutual friends who make this journal such a wonderful place.

I've done one of these entries already, and I thought I'd do another. After all, without you, there'd be no LJ!

My disclaimer of dhûm: I hope no one is offended by this. I mean no offense. If I've offended you, let me know and I'll remove your line. Remember, this is all subjective, it's what popped into my head when I thought of these usernames. Also, I only wrote blurbs for mutual friends. Please don't be sad...this took several hours just doing mutual friends.

absurdwords A hardy soul, who is helping me monitor quirky. Writes fascinating things. I really like her. She's bold and smart, and a lot of fun. Always up for something interesting, it seems.
ac1d6urn One of those immensely talented people...a truly amazing fanartist, who draws glowing, amazing work, and yet is also a very good author! Plus, she has a sweet, humorous side. Has this habit of mentioning my handle nearly ever time she replies, which is cute. Multi-talented, and just a dear, really.
adamasoda An amazing artist, whose work brims with vital energy and whose characters breathe and glower and seethe and lust...and adama's always willing to rec another artist, which I think is so wonderful. Edgy and interesting.
aerynstales What can I say about my constant chat-buddy? More energy than a hurricane, more focused than a laser, able to write long LJ entries in a single bound, funny, irreverent, and going places. Draws, writes, throws down! And even helps me with the quirky. What a fab gal. Her entries have such a chatty style.
agatha_s She will join me in whatever silly mess I manage to stick on LJ...Mary Sue revelations? Check. Goth poetry? Check. Funky, interesting, I always look forward to her entries. She has a bit of the eye for the unusual, which is something I like very much. Is also the brains behind a very fun comm.
annecatherine A listmaker, an organizer, which immediately makes her a kindred spirit. Her news LJ is quite helpful. Very nice.
anneline A fic journal, a new find, I'm still looking around. Some interesting pieces.
aramintasnape There's sweet, and there's araminta, who adds cute widdle baby puppies and teeny sugary heart treats. She is so wonderful and nice, sweet and kind, and she's all curly and adorable, and she makes me feel all happy because she's so upbeat, positive, and sweet, all the time. Much rejoicing on the fact that she is about to have another baby!
arionrhod Very good writer . Interesting person. Loves the Lupin, which I'm beginning to realize is a very, very good thing. I wish there were more entries from her!
avus A grandfather on the internet? Writing HP stories? Surely you jest! Oh no, I do not! If you desire LJ entries about wildlife in CO, squid limericks, or any manner of psychological reflection, avus is your go-to guy. Just watch out about tempting him with too much calamari.
b2wm One of my LotR friends. I always imagine her cracking her knuckles as she finds another LotR Sue. Strong, opinionated, and also working on her writing, just like the rest of us, which is an immediate connection. I always have this feeling that she's up for anything. Take down those orcs with only the blade in her boot and a tankard of ale? Yep. So go ahead. Crack a few warg skulls together with her and call it a day. You won't regret it.
blackletter Need someone to talk to about eunuchs? Or Latin? blackletter's got you covered. And life experiences? Let's just say that the Ten Things You Haven't Done That I've Done meme was quite astonishing in her hands.
bleodswean A new friend. Interesting, literate, I can't wait to get to know her better. Does have a rather...er...interesting crush on Dumbledore that makes her more...er...interesting. Beard!love...I used to think it only existed in Rip Van Winkle.
charliesmum Not just the mum of Charlie! Oh, no! So much more. Kindness, thoughtful ponderings, and interesting reflections are yours if you friend her. Oh, and Charlie is adorable. Wear your Cuteness Reflecting Goggles...you'll need them. Do not attempt to adjust your set...she really is that nice.
chocolate_limes Funny as hell, takes teh wit to the next level, which apparently involves, well, chocolate limes. <3 the limes. Also thoughtful and interesting. Wish she was updating more often! I'm always geeked when I see a new entry from her.
chrysantza Irreverent, and squees delightfully over new friends. Also demands Lupin-love as part of friending. Funny, too. Her pink LJ will stand up and demand its due, and you shall bring the Remus worship!
circumartificia Not a lot of entries. Most recent one, though involved both the Gallery of Regrettable Food and Interior Disasters, so that makes up for it. A talented author, from all I've heard. Can't wait to read more entries and get to know her better!
cordelia_v New to the flist, reserved, thoughtful, and thought-provoking. Cordelia writes some pretty powerful HP essays, and likes to deconstruct HP. I'm always interested in her entries. Plus she writes fic reviews. Have I mentioned how much I love reviews?
cruisedirector I love her fics. I love her fics. Oh, and I love her fics. I am intensely jealous of her continual stream of picture-taking. She is the wow. Everyday a new pic. Everyday a new entry. She is interesting. I love that she has this long-term and smart view of the fandom, whichever fandom she's in. She knows the cycle and understands the process, and she's a great source of information and help. Yay for that! I wish there were more like her. And her fics are smart, interesting, and hawt.
dark_cygnet One of the Acolytes of Teh Pudge, a sister in the thrall of Teh Alan, a luminous being who knows the beauty of the Master...funny, energetic, and she has great taste. hee! <3
deepforestowl She is the one of the first people I friended on LJ. For a year I've read of heartbreak, life in Japan, and the traffic of Chicago. Raw, really emotionally honest, stronger than an ox but still has a sweet peach soul. A very powerful person...reminds me of another friend I have. Unafraid to say anything in her LJ, gutsy, but still vulnerable. A friend.
djinniyah Everyone has a set of fanartists they love. Everyone's tastes are unique. I have to say that djinni is my favorite HP fanartist. There is something so astonishing in her drawings, something unique. Relentlessly powerful, extremely mature, with forceful lines and a hammering of color, djinni has the mad skillz. I love her art so damned much. I can't say enough, really. She's got the passion, the fire, the force down pat, and her characters explode with heat. Plus she often pairs them with amazing poetry.
dphearson Strong opinions, thoughtful musings. I'm intrigued by her entries. Plus she knows about Lexx! Raise your glass of wine and toast the lovely lady.
elliek_21 Unabashed, outgoing, ellie is neat. She just throws it out there. And she's a kind reviewer! Fights for what she believes in.
eloisasnape Ah, the silly wonder that is eloisa! Outrageous, full of moxie and vigor, she'll box you and hug you and she's just so frank and funny! Her entries are a combination of the mundane and the tequila. With lime!
gillieweed Gillie understands the true power that is Alton Brown. Smart, unafraid, opinionated, funny...she brings it all to the yard. Do not attempt to get anything past her. It's not possible.
gina_r_snape Cool, calm, still meme-licious in ways I can't possibly comprehend, gina is a hard working girl in the city unafraid to have fun. Quite the sleuth about HP, determined to find out more about Snape, and just overall a good friend on the list. Quite nice!
gmth Funny, witty, and a very good writer. A boon to HP fandom in so many ways! Works so hard in the fandom, it puts people to shame. Squees beautifully! Energetic and quite susceptible to bookseller humor. She has one of those journals that is a fandom "gathering point". She rocks.
iibnf Dear Bernice: You are brilliant. Love, valis. PS: I want to have your witty babies kthnx.
ildi_bp An incredible artist, sweet and nice, just wow.
imadra_blue New on the flist. She of the famous and hysterical contribution to quirky...the lovely Green Eggs & Ham SS/RL poem. Yet another irreverent and amusing person that I am glad to have met.
julian_black Smart, interesting, hasn't been on much of late (unfortunately). Lovely reviewer.
junediamanti June is also one of my first LJ friends. June is opinionated, talkative, and direct. Recently there was some controversy about her possibly posting anonymously, but anyone who has known her for any length of time will know that June is never afraid to say what needs to be said, with name attached. She's smart, her humour is dry, and she has contributed much to the fandom. Hardworking, honest. Her LJ is now becoming a lodestone for HP fans. Nearly finished with the giant epic BYA, which is a tremendous accomplishment. June rocks! And she owns a washing machine that was never made.
karasu_hime Ethereal, sweet, her art is lovely and quite fine, just like her!
khames Artist...wow. Wow in a good way.
kleio_the_muse Kleio the unstoppable force! Another Spike fan, oh the joy! Sweet, funny, totally full of moxie and bubbling over with fun. Her LJ is always a party, and as long as you bring a bit of Spike-lust with you, you're always welcome.
lady_branwyn Reserved, quiet, writing what has to be my favorite LotR WiP right now. New to the list.
larilee Ah, the larilee of joy, the amazing reviewer who so kindly gives of her time to write so many reviews! The Queen of Reviewing, who also finds time to write. She was one of the first to begin reviewing tLS on Occlumency, and she is the only reviewer in any archive to review every single chapter. Seriously. All sixty-six. Always concerned with the fandom, spends her time trying to help. Wants to make a difference, and in a civilized way, which is lovely.
lfire1 The other half of the aerynfire writing team. I cannot tell the difference between her LJ entries and aeryn's, honestly, unless I look at their icons first. I am completely intrigued that these two writing partners found each other a continent away, and are so intriguingly similar. lfire has spirit and moxie, just like aeryn, and also has excellent taste in men...Oded Fehr and Alan Rickman...oh yes. These two are such a great combo. I mean Aeryn & lfire, though O & teh Pudge...hmmm...oh, sorry, I digress.
logospilgrim A spiritual center for many people, logos has a large heart and tries to help everyone who comes her way. Absent as of late, which is a shame.
lush_rimbaud A poet, raw, honest, and independent.
luvboromir24601 She hasn't been on as much lately, it seems. But still, she is there, with her intense desire to save Boromir from the grasp of rabid fangurls, and her intelligence, and her beloved happy horse. She's also a longtime LJ friend, and I'm glad she's on the list. She's definitely cool.
mariannelee Smart, reserved, marianne is wonderful. She's my beta, she's such a help, and she's a true resource for the fandom and the writing community in general. Absolutely committed to teasing out every rule involving a comma. She's great, her LJ is the calm center of the storm.
mimbulus Has the most awesome Spaceballs mood theme, which makes me grin every time I see it. Is sweet, has weird spates of little-bad-luck-things just like I do, and tends to injure herself on a regular basis, just like me. Has a goofy sense of humor, too, which is one of my favorite things in life.

mortifyd Teh Mort is Love. Just saying. <3 Mort is unafraid to be the Snark, the Voice of Reason, and even sometimes the Guy in Karate Class. He's insightful and smart. I found him through some silly controversy over Sirius Black, and his irreverent reply made me laugh and laugh, and I thought, yep, gotta friend him. And it's been awesome ever since. Plus, he is the leader of the Pudge congregation!
ms_hecubus Oh, my wacky, sweet, truly awesome friend, I have been missing you lately. Funny, amusing, has a great LJ entry style that always cracks me up. Another LJer I feel a connection to. Her LJ is kind of like a popsicle caught in a screen door. I don't know why, it just is.
musigneus I said it before, I'll say it again, reserved, very good writer, has excellent recs. More entries, I demand selfishly!
mysduende The High Queen Of Severus-dom. The High Priestess of All That is Snape. Has a lovely website, one of the best, about the Potions master, and is just an entertaining person all around. I love her theories. Lovely, sensual art. Smart, and doesn't suffer fools gladly. An amazing woman with great talent.
nebulaean New artist on the flist. Huzzah!
nix___ Another new artist on the flist. And another rousing huzzah!
ozymannedias Funny, fascinating, not nearly enough entries, boohoo.
pandora_nervosa My other Spike-lovin' friend! Pandora is another person on the flist that I feel a strong connection to. Smart, funny, honest, warm, very cool. Loves video games, has such excellent taste in men...She's lovely. I know that I could talk to her for hours, long conversations about gorgeous men and fanfiction and how amazing unusual people are in general. She's observant and intelligent. Her LJ is a white-hot repository for hot pics of teh Spike.
pen_and_umbra Words fail me. Brilliant, witty as hell, genuine, incredibly talented with the graphic arts, an excellent writer, I could just go on and on. Plus, totally unassuming and sweet. Knows how white-hot SS/LM can be. She will one day rule the world with her own Lucius pimp!cane, and I just hope to be able to see it.
privatemaladict Another long-time LJ friend. We both have gone from LJ newbie to LJ enthusiast, and new!epic fanfic writer to nearly finished epic fanfic writer in the last year. I love having someone to go through the process with me...she's very cool and funny and honest, and her entries are always interesting.
rickfan37 Sweet, earnest, and very nice. A lovely gal! Funny. Her entries always seem warm-hearted to me.
sapphiresnape Very nice, wonderful minatures artist. I'm always interested in seeing what she's created next. Plus, she has this endearing habit of always using people's names in her reply comments.
scarah2 Oh, the fabulosity of the realm of scarah2, it is beyond my power to describe. Just know that you might be able to replicate the effect if you drank fourteen bottles of Robitussin and jumped into a child's swimming pool filled with gummy worms and lint.
scribbulus_ink Another amazing source of talent and hard work in the fandom, someone who labors to make it a better place for everyone. A great author, a wonderful organizer, a brilliant beam of light leading the way for other communities. All hail McKay, the incredible werewolf fancier.
serpenatrix Oh, another Acolyte! Her montages are terrific. Her Rickmania knows no bounds. She is warm, funny, and hard-working, she is a wonderful Sister of the Pudge, and a lovely person. *showers her with chocolate Alans*
shagsthedustmop Sly, irreverent, very good author, sassy, smart, fun. Interesting. I like her very much. I also feel a connection to her.
shezan Smart and literate, extremely interesting, always has thought-provoking entries about historical items. I love her reviews. Plus once in a while she really throws me for a loop, like when she includes a Men I'd Like to Shag meme in amongst thoughtful entries about historical papyri.
snapekisser Gifted fanartist, Snape-lover. Very sweet.
snapesforte Runs an uberawesome Snape site, one of my favorites. Is gloriously Snape-like in some ways. Smart, sly, funny, awesome. Another person on the flist I feel a connection to. She's always bringing up fascinating theories. Has a great love of the canon!Snape, rare though he is. I always imagine her in robes. hee! She's wicked, clever, and she'll apply the Cruciatus Curse to your enemies if you ask her very, very nicely.
snitchhitter Irreverent, dry, witty, interesting art.
straussmonster Always offers me a glimpse into the opera world...a world I know next to nothing about. Extremely intelligent, interesting. Fairly new to the list.
superbunny3000 Lovely girl, dreamily wondering about her place in the world and what life is all about, really. Writes rambling entries and draws highly detailed yet nearly surrealistic art.
sylvadin Love her writing. Can't wait for her to tie up her SS/RH epic series. Very nice. Fairly new to the flist.
tamony_lenore Another LJer I feel a connection to. One of my early LJ friends, very funny, awesome, loves pictures. Teh Kewl. Tamony is like whoa.
tapedeck Repository of a giant portion of dry wit. Impressive, really. A very cool artist. I will not compare her to Gorey. That is the law.
todayiamadaisy Sweet, sunny, nice, and funny...what's not to like? A refreshing breeze from Australia.
violet_quill Very good writer who is now entering the House fandom...yippee! I can't wait to see what she'll write there.
virtual_gravy Excellent photographer, really. Amazing, amazing, amazing. Is funny and nice besides. And so talented! His eye is incredible. And he's observant.
zakkati Oh, the irreverent bundle of fun that is zakkati! She knows the value of the O, she has fascinating insights into Tunisia, and she's quite amusing. One of those LJers who always surprises me.

A special tribute to gypsyjolie, who was bummed out that I didn't write her a compliment last time (I leave RL friends out of it, usually): I've always liked gypsy. Funny, smart, very, very, cool, comfortable with herself. Once on LJ, she found and friended me, and was one of my first LJ friends. LJ has revealed her to be a sweet, wonderful, vulnerable, and awesome person. She has this dreamy quality to her that is irresistable. She's funky and kind-hearted. She wants to share her gifts with people, she wants people to be happy. She explores universal truths, she looks at her heart with a wondering expression and tries to understand how it works. She's lovely! A wonderful friend, who lives her life with beauty inside and out.

Happy 1 year blogiversary! That was very sweet what you said about everyone. It reminds me of that story of the teacher who had all her class write nice things about each other, then she copied them out and gave each kid the list of what everyone said about them, and then one of the kids died in Vietnam, (when he was an adult, of course) and he still had the list with him.

Sorry I haven't been around much; I've had some odd mystery ailment that makes me want to sleep all the time. It doesn't look like it's going to kill me--not unless boredom is fatal. In fact, it seems to be going away.

You needn't confuse me with blackletter anymore, since I'm no longer a graduate student. Although I'm thinking about taking Latin just because I've always wanted to, and with UW only three blocks away I have no excuse not to. So maybe things will only get more confusing, not less...

The last several weeks that I've been swamped at work I've also had plot bunnies everywhere, and I'm getting desperate to write something other than science. Much as I love science, it's time for some Snape/Lupin instead...
