Another thesaurus moment.

Feeling:

impressive, deep, profound, indelible, deep-felt, home-felt, heart-felt, swelling, soul-stirring, deep-mouthed, heart-expanding, electric, thrilling, rapturous, ecstatic.

I love my thesaurus. Yeah, it's from 1805, so what? Wanna make something of it?

Yeah, it's from 1805, so what?

Another thing we have in common, it seems. I have a very old Oxford dictionary, and I like it because it's old; I don't have to sneer at all these shiny, plastic, 'modern' words.

This thesaurus is fabulous. They updated it at some point, and simply added more words to it, without taking out any of the originals.

I love it so...

I could make a very period story from it, or some *exceptionally* bad period poetry. :)

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes. This thesaurus could generate hundreds of bad poems.

I need a thesaurus. I love my dictionary, but I need a thesaurus...

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
A thesaurus is more handy to me than a dictionary.

I hate the new dictionary-style thesaurus too. I like the old-fashioned style.

Yeah, it's from 1805, so what?

AHahahaha! XD You are so cool.

<3!

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
Happy to please. ;) Now if I could just get my hands on a dictionary from 1805 I'd be happy...

[identity profile] lfire1.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
1805? Wow.
Very cool...admirable, agreeable, bully, capital, first-class, first-rate, gratifying, pleasing, recherché, satisfactory, satisfying, sound, spanking, splendid, valuable, welcome, wonderful, worthy

Umm...you couldn't lend it to me for this Sherlock Holmes fic we're working on could you? Heh heh. :)

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
Anytime you want me to look up a specific word you have only to ask!

[identity profile] lfire1.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Awww...thank you!
You may regret that offer! ;)

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
I doubt it. ;) Looking up things in my thesaurus is fun. I'm a geek.

Those should be in the LJ mood icons!

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that would be an impressive mood theme. I'd particularly like to see the icon for deep-mouthed.

I *lurve* my thesaurus. Lurve, lurve, lurve! I use mine at least twice a day...

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It really is an indispensable part of writing. Moreso than a dictionary for me.

[identity profile] zakkati.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I love my thesaurus too, although it is a mere seventeen years old. I particularly enjoy the following sections: submit, tie.... Actually, I think I've said a little too much there!

I much prefer books to television: the pictures in my head are so much better :)

*slaps self for pervy thoughts*

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2005-03-24 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be one of my favorite sections as well. *wink wink, nudge nudge*

[identity profile] chocolate-limes.livejournal.com 2005-03-25 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
... I think I love your thesaurus too! The fact that it's from 1805 just makes it better!

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2005-03-25 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It exceeds, excels, transcends, outdoes, outweighs, outrivals, outranks, passes, surpasses, surmounts, gets ahead of, overtops, overrides, overmatches, tops, o'er-tops, beats, wins out, beats hollow, outstrips, eclipses, throws into the shade, takes the shine out of, has the upper hand, has the advantage, and predominates every other thesaurus I've seen.

[identity profile] chocolate-limes.livejournal.com 2005-03-28 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it certainly beats me hollow!
