Dispatches from the mall

Just went shoping. Bought a fall coat...still need a winter coat, though, but it's hard to find a nice coat for a plus size woman.

Saw a few funny things, though, so of course I had to share.

One store window had two headless mannequins in the window. The headless boy mannequin was holding mistletoe over the headless girl mannequin. Or rather, near where the headless girl mannequin's head should be. I just stared at it.

At the coat store they had bizarre Christmas clothing for babies, including little outfits that said "Santa's Little Helper". But the oddest one, by far, said only "Mrs. Clause" on it. I am not making this up. Apart from the highly questionable rationale that would have a six month old baby married, I must also protest the strange logic that would have this infant marry a portion of a sentence. I suppose the next question would be "independent or subordinate?"

More chai for me! And lovely bubble bath. Yum.

I bought another pair of shoes from Zappos.com and was tremendously delighted that this pair, 12 double wide, actually fit. I have nice dark brown boots finally! Hip hip huzzah! Thank you to the kind person who pointed them out...hmmm...I think it was [livejournal.com profile] webbapettigrew.

Want to start the new chapter...so many things to cram into it, so little time. Unfortunately some of it has to be done just so, and will take extra time.

All of you doing the Nano...you're insane! I can barely manage 4-8,000 words a month and still stay sane.

ROFL @ Mrs. Clause.

All of you doing the Nano...you're insane!

I second that. I can't even manage 4-8,000 and keep my sanity.

Glad you're loving Zappos as much as I do!

Hee! for the Mrs. Clause. I read that part of the post out loud to my friend Laura over the phone and she said "Oh! That girl would be a hoot to spend an afternoon with!". :) So, babe, get your butt over here and hang out sometime!

What's this Nano thing? A writing challenge of some sort?

Also, I heard this song and though you'd like it. http://s13.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3042A10FEAE95F639CC43C89D5A7DEA1

Missed you while you were in Australia.

Nano is NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month. I believe that people who participate are encouraged to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. There are several on my flist who are attempting this madness. :) It is a noble effort, to be sure, and I understand its basic principle: write! Write now! You can find the official website here (http://www.nanowrimo.org/).

Ha! I laughed out loud when the song started...yes, you pegged me correctly as a Melodramatic Bonnie Tyler Fan. That was a great version! Thanks!

I am going nuts waiting for the new Tori CD!!

Did you pick up the "Live in Sunny Florida" DVD? Incredible---I think she includes performances of 20 songs. And there's more talk, btw, of a new Kate Bush album at some point, though I am not going to hold my breath.

I missed you too! We'll have to figure out some time to hang out.
