This fence was around a palace:
This palace, to be exact:
This is the view from within Café du Monde:

The weather was quite quixotic. These pics were taken only moments apart, and yet...heavy rain vs. sunshine.

I love this one. It's so beautiful.
The round windows are unbelievable.

julian_black was talking about how the city is half gorgeous, half dilapidated, and wow, she was so totally correct.
Next to this building was this:
And past that was a building with windows broken out. In fact, there were many buildings with businesses in them on the street level, and pigeons roosting in the upper levels.

Funny thing is, Marie Laveau is this major voodoo priestess, and to make people think she had powers over life and death, she stopped seeing people when she got older and had her daughter see them instead, so they'd think she wasn't aging. ha!
