grrr
Am posting this from my sister's house, which tells you nearly everything you need to know about my internet status right now.
Turns out that you can't have cable internet without basic cable, so I'm now going to be paying nearly $80 a month, which is fine, honestly. I paid $46 before for just the modem, and I have no problems with paying $35 for basic--that's not a bad price at all.
However, I signed up for an appointment on Friday afternoon for the cable internet install. Broadstar never showed up and never called. They still haven't called. I was also told we'd have cable back by Friday afternoon, and as of yesterday all we had was some sort of snowy cably mess.
I have now heard from one of the neighbors that Comcast didn't just take their equipment and go--they've cut the lines, and now Broadstar is going completely nuts fixing the damage. Which doesn't surprise me, honestly, given how nasty Comcast can be.
So I have no idea when I'll have the internet again, given that I work the next two days, and then we go into Thanksgiving weekend, so I have no idea how I'll schedule an appointment. Maybe I'll have to come home early--that would suck.
I'm biting my nails trying to figure out how to do my listings without access at home. I'm hoping that I can transfer them to disk and take them to my sister's and upload them. What a total pain in the ass this is turning out to be.
Plus, I still have to take the POS modem back to Comcast. It's in horrible shape--it was the replacement modem for a modem that went dead, and it was missing the on/off switch when it was "installed." I really hope they don't try to charge me for that.
I miss mah interwebs...and all of you, of course, dear flist.

We hate comcast, too. But it's either this or pay for a land line and then pay for DSL as well. This way, we only have to deal with one evil company.
I am so sorry- this is such a crappy thing for either company to do. I guess they don't realize that some people actually depend on the internet for business. :( *hugs*

POS doesn't stand for "point of sale" in this case. :P
