2) Do you write fanfiction: Oh, indeed I do.
3) Draw fanart: No. I have trouble with smiley-faces, honestly.

5) Read too many fics: Absolutely.
6) Favorite house: It depends. In the series I am very into Slytherins for some reason...heh heh heh. However, I like Ravenclaw best, I think.

96) What animal Lily would've been: A cardinal.
97) Did Harry pass his Potions' O.W.L.s: I think he came close, and McG is going to browbeat Snape into taking him into his class.
98) Did Ron: It would be interesting if he didn't.
99) Is Harry going to die or will he survive: Oh, he'll survive. Dumbledore won't.
100) What gives you the most warm fuzzies in your stomach in the whole HP-verse: Mmmm. Hagrid bringing Harry a cake for his 11th birthday. Sirius singing "God Rest Ye Merry Hippogriffs". Lots of others I can't remember.

Whew!

random drivel from me re: HP and TLS

[identity profile] gypsyjolie.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
This being a somewhat likely place to tell you that I *finally* got the time to start reading your story. It's only something like the 10th HP fanfic I've read. Other than the brilliant Blaise as metamorphmagis fic by [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana and the Eminem as the eldest Malfoy brother crack!fic by [livejournal.com profile] hackthis, which I can totally believe. lucius would be proud. I'm only on Chapter 9 so far, but Sarah Tanner has my interest piqued! And the Sanguimagus idea - brilliant. Leave it to you to create something good. I can't wait to find out what it all means.

I have a few random responses:

1. Hee! Sprout having "second breakfast". (hey, LOTR holds my fannish heart)
2. Weasley's Wizard Wheezes shop. fabulous. Wish you had more time to wander the aisles and samle the merchandise!
3. For not liking Harry much, you write a good one. Alternately malingering and hopeful, very much where OoTP left off.
4. Lupin inviting Harry to #12 Grimmauld Place for Christmas! Will he go? Oh the angst. (I miss Sirius too, Harry. *pets*)
5. Opening Harry's O.W.L.results for the first time in front of Hermione - perfect. Your Hermione reads very like JKR's in cadence. And I totally agree with you on Harry's Potions results and McG pushing for him to go to N.E.W.T level classes. Should be good in Book 6.
6. "Dumbledore grimaced" (Chap 1). really? I cannot imagine him grimacing. He's always so poker-faced in my head.

This is the first Snapefic I've read - looking very much forward to it. I loathe the idea of SS?HP and that seems to be all I've run across. I'm opposed to non-gen HP fic (other than post-war) anyway. Hello - they're of an age with my little sister. I just can't go there.

and Sirius singing "God Rest Ye Merry Hippogriffs". one of my fuzzy spots too. :)

HEE!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for reading! You're so sweet!

I do agree with you about Dumbledore grimacing...that is a bit strange. I just needed a good reaction shot to what she said, and I guess I could have come up with something better.

I'm glad you caught the "second breakfast"...that had to be one of my fave LotR scenes. My sister and I were quoting that for weeks. "No elevenses?"

There are some good Snapefics out there. I will try to get a little list together for you of my faves. One of the best SS/HG I've read is at http://www.potions-master.com/. It is called The Other Side of Darkness. I normally avoid SS/HG like the plague. However, this one features an adult Hermione (26), and it and the sequel really are well-written and non-squicky. I generally don't read much about the younger generation as well. They usually just degenerate into some sort of wierd transfer-student-from-America-at-Hogwarts nonsense anyway.

ok, last spam of the evening. This was so good I had to make sure you saw it: Aetiologia by [livejournal.com profile] lalejandra. Brand spankin' new tonight.

oh, the plot tingles! Whatever crack lalejandra's usually smoking, this one must have come from some serious Book 6/7 discussion on possible plotlines, and is sans porny content.

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
It's great! I loved all of the Muggle/Wizard stuff...loved Draco being only from Malfoy...many, many, many awesome details. And Neville asserting that trying to clean up the dirt using a spell would only "make it worse" was so perfect. Thanks for the rec!

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and I absolutely loved that the author quotes one of my favorite Tori songs (Hotel). Awesome...

[identity profile] gypsyjolie.livejournal.com 2004-08-05 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
lalejandra was my first fandom and favorite writer for a long time. She's a cutting wit. Kind of like Tori herself. I didn't know you were a Tori fan! Maybe I should send you a care package of Tori bootlegs?

oh, have you seen this Snape community? How do you post a community anyway? I know to post a LJ user you do the < lj usr="" > but how do you do the same thing for a community? < lj community = "" > doesn't seem to work.

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2004-08-05 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
To post a community you would use [lj comm=""] (with the happy pointies instead of brackets, but you knew that)

I'm surprised that you didn't remember that I was a Tori fan...Didn't I give you a duo of CDs I burned from all of my singles a couple years ago? ;) I finally got to see her in concert for the first time last year. It was a big year for me because I saw her and Peter Gabriel in the same year, both for the first time. (My holy trilogy is Tori, Peter, and Kate Bush, but I will never see Kate Bush, alas.)

I watch [livejournal.com profile] snapesupport, [livejournal.com profile] prof_snape, [livejournal.com profile] severus_snape01, [livejournal.com profile] shrine_of_snape, [livejournal.com profile] smelling_salts, [livejournal.com profile] snapes_muse, [livejournal.com profile] snapish_smut, [livejournal.com profile] sufferingsev, [livejournal.com profile] sycophant_hex, [livejournal.com profile] snape_fic. There's also one called [livejournal.com profile] do_me_profsnape.

Hmmm. Wonder if I like Severus or something. ;)

DUDE

I totally forgot that you gave me that awesome Tori b-sides set. It started my collection. I grovel at your feet. I've got about 130 Tori bootlegs, so I shall put together something fabulous darling for you. IF you send me your address.

Also, I've downloaded some Muse Absolution on your recommendation. Very lush. Any other music recommendations?

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2004-08-05 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I will e-mail my address.

Tori has been my musical goddess for many, many years, but I find myself straying suddenly into the realm of Nu-metal. Odd, very odd, but lots of fun.

Right now Muse is my absolute fave, I think. I also love Coheed & Cambria. Muse is kind of a mix of C & C and Radiohead, so if you like Muse, you may like C & C. The rest of my listening list is all nu-metal. Disturbed is one of my faves. I like fingereleven, System of a Down and Three Days Grace a lot as well.

On my second tier I would put Adema, Saliva, Breaking Benjamin, lostprophets, POD.

Haven't listened to anything else wonderful lately because I've been so caught up in this bizarre nu-metal thing.

Brilliant ship name

I love "The Government Stole My Toad" LL/NL

[identity profile] valis2.livejournal.com 2004-08-04 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
I totally forgot about that one! You're right, that has to be the best. I laughed so hard the first time I saw it.
