Awesome piece of art

I love [livejournal.com profile] snapesforte's art...she has a dark, strong-lined style that I love...and she has just uploaded an awesome new piece here. It's the cover for her epic SS/HG tale Taking Over Me.

Now, I am not a fan of SS/HG, honestly, but this piece is so dark and gripping. Snape is possessive and protective and oh so very dangerous in it. And if there's a kind of Snape that I like best, it would have to be a dangerous, protective Snape. Hermione is quite passionate in the image. There's a great Dumbledore & Harry in the background, too. But the grim Snape as guardian in the front...well, definitely my cup of tea.

*squees over [livejournal.com profile] snapesforte's art.*

Not least because she's done some fabby illos of my own work (BYA) including a piece which is now my favourite bit of fic art of all time.

It's one of my OC's. My evil villain in fact. The reason I especially adore him, is that until she drew him, that man existed solely in my own imagination, and I cannot tell you the sheer glory of seeing him come to life like that.

Here he is. While I know you have not read the story, let me just say, he's just like - no - better than I ever saw him. It is that good. He's become more real to me, since she drew him. Isn't that fantastic?

The other less personal reason, is that she draws a dark and canonical Snape. She's probably one of the best scholars of Canon!Snape in the fandom, shamefully unsung - her site is one of the best Snape resources there is. Her actual style has been (IMHO) maturing, with her showing wonderful reductive style that reminds me of some of the artwork in the Kindly Ones, the final story in "The Sandman".

I remember seeing the drawing of your OC before, but thanks for the link; I had to check it out again, of course.

She really is amazing. My two favorite fanartists, the two that really appeal to some drama gene within me, are [livejournal.com profile] djinniyah and [livejournal.com profile] snapesforte.

And I love her website! It's awesome. I love the new Flash version. She really is talented, beautiful, and funny...just an amazing person all around.

I love that TOM cover. I keep looking at it.

Yes, dark and brooding...just how I like my Snape! ;)

I've never squeed before, but I really feel like it now. :) I am most pleased. How's that? :-D

Being most pleased is definitely the Potions master's equivalent to squeeing, I'd say. :)

Have I mentioned how much I love your art? I LOVE YOUR ART!!

Ooooh, thank you for the link.
