wow! I can't believe it.
Some of you may remember that I left some of my crafted pieces on consignment at a gallery neary my parents' house. I wasn't thinking it would do well; in fact, she only picked out a few things, and I was a little bummed, especially because one of the pieces was the Cursed Piece, a very expensive piece that I made about seven years ago and was certain would never, ever sell.
But I've received a couple checks, and today, I just received a wonderful check...the cursed piece sold. In fact, I'm a little worried that they have nothing left...I think they only have two pieces now.
Wow! Just...wow!

See, it wasn't cursed. It just hadn't found its true owner yet. :P ;)

They are four hours from my house, so I have to really work out getting there, but still, I hope I can figure something out so that they'll have a little more stuff for the rest of the summer season.

I'm still totally surprised.

Just out of curiosity... what made it 'cursed'? ;)

Also, as soon as someone touched it and asked the price, they would immediately recoil and say the usual "I have expensive taste!" Oh, yeah, ha ha ha. And then everything in my booth would suddenly be too expensive! Ugh.

After enough years in the business one discovers that every piece we create, no matter how much we might personally go 'yuck' or 'what was I thinking?!?' towards it, winds up being the 'perfect' item for some buyer.

It does amuse me when several of the same kind of item will sell at one show and then none at the next. Regional differences? Freaky coincidence?

Still, selling a cursed piece, too. I hope they'll take more of your work now.

They haven't called me. Weird, huh? I'll have to find time to call them soon.
