Power outage, and more.
Jul. 13th, 2005 08:59 pmYesterday I drove to WI. Today I drove back. Quite tired now.
I was going to check into LJ before I left yesterday, but I lost power at 4 am and it was still off when I left. Boohoo!
So this weekend is a show, but it's here in my area, but I still have to stay at a hotel, but I'll be checking in periodically, but then I'm leaving Monday. Craziness, huh?
I was going to check into LJ before I left yesterday, but I lost power at 4 am and it was still off when I left. Boohoo!
- Funny things I saw:
- A Taurus stuffed with plants. Seriously. Stuffed. With plants. There was barely enough room for the driver. Looking into the back window was like looking into a jungle.
- A sign for a roadside attraction that has been deteriorating finally broke. It used to read "Fireworks blah blah blah". It now reads:
O R K S
THIS EXIT
Well, how awesome is that? I never realized it was just that easy. I've been getting them mail order this whole time. - Argh! I can't remember the third funny thing. I need to write this stuff down. This is going to make me mental.
- Quick fabulous thing I just saw:
- THIS AMAZING SNAPE DRAWING by one of my favorite fanartists, the awesome
snapesforte.
- Not so awesome things that happened:
- I was going around 55 mph (in a huge SUV loaded to the gills) and a PT Cruiser cut in front of me suddenly. They were going 25 mph. It was a construction zone, and the road went from 55 to 25 in a mile, and it was a single lane road just after she cut in front of me with concrete barriers on both sides, and I had nowhere to go. I braked as best as I was able, and honked.
I passed them when the road opened up again. She had four children in the car. Four. All unrestrained. And one of them threw a candy bar wrapper out the window while I was watching. Look, I don't usually like to use the LJ to harangue people, but this made me really, really upset. She, and her children, all would have been very, very seriously injured had I not been able to stop. Even a little tap could have sent them into the barriers. I had seen the sign for the slow down, and had begun to slow down already, and I'm just thankful that I was not traveling any faster than I was. Argh! - I picked okay on the toll lanes, except for one lane, where the car ahead of me apparently had to have the dictionary read to them. Backwards.
