Some typical blather, and Grandma visit

Not Husband's grandmother, who is mostly lovely. No, my grandmother, she of Lewy's Bodies Dementia and narcissism.

She's been quite aggressive and nasty for the past couple weeks, and wasn't able to recognize people, even my mother at times, which is really a bad sign because they were a binary star system for a very long time. Because of this scary behavior, and cellulitis in her legs, my mother has been preparing for my grandmother's final days for the past two weeks, but I had an inkling that it was a medication-based issue. Sure enough, once she was switched off a new anti-anxiety drug, she went back to her normal (well, demented) self.

So my sister and I went to visit her tonight. The opening conversation:

Attendant (to my grandmother): Who are these women? [points to me and my sister]
Grandma: My granddaughters.
Attendant: And is this all of them?
Grandma: Yes. [Er, no, but let's not get into that.]
Attendant: And do you know who I am?
Grandma: Yes. You're nosy.

So score one for my grandmother, who does have a mean but funny streak of humor.

I'm feeling a little spacey--I've been sick with some sort of intestinal unhappiness for a couple days, and my neck is acting up, and I've had bad insomnia and horrible sleep involving T Rex toys coming to life and trying to get out of their packaging. I'm so bummed, because I had such high hopes for this week (mostly writing), and I just haven't been able to get anything done at all. Not even for the (incredibly) belated birthday fic for the monster of odd. grah. And the Giant Scary Fic is kind of stalled at 68k because I've finally written the Big Scene, and it's requiring rather more of the Wide Open Eye than usual. Tricky, tricky bit of writing, and I have to balance it just right, or it collapses under the weight of its own melodrama.
