Actually, they're geeks.

I just sat in my living room with my teeny family, and my father was telling his brother (my uncle) about Galaxy Quest and Red Dwarf. Then my mother and father admitted that they are going to buy an all regions DVD player so they can watch the Australian show McCleod's Daughters (sp).

That's when I realized where I get my fan mentality. Though they've never taken it to the...er...extreme, like I have.

Also, GIP. Bet you never knew what I looked like first thing in the morning. My breath could take out a water buffalo from a hundred paces away.

Yay for fannish parents, though! :D That's so cool. :D

And that's an AWESOME icon! (breath... well, that's another matter. ;))

I was totally not expecting the DVD player thing, honestly! They're buying it for the express purpose of watching that show, which cracks me up.

And hooray for video games that happen to match my LJ name!

You can get McLeod's Daughters DVS at Target! They don't really need an all regions player for that. Wasn't/isn't the whole series running on A&E?

LOL! I had to laugh at this. My brothers--the eldest in particular--are The World's Biggest LOTR Geeks. I only saw the first film with them, but it was a must just to laugh at them dissecting it at the end. (The films, by and large, received their approval. Peter Jackson has no idea what this means...*snicker*)

LMAO at your icon!

hahaha!!! Are you SERIOUS?! That's hilarious! I'll definitely tell them.

Yeah, it was running on A&E, but they stopped, and my parents desperately want to see seasons 4, 5, and 6.

My sister is a big LotR geek as well, and I once dated a guy who was into it, and they both would get into these giant discussions, mostly involving the Silmarillion...heh.

I'm geeking over the icon! Look, I have Valis I as well...

Wow, that's awesome! It must be great to have such a fanish family. My parents have never been fans of anything. But my dad can dig himself really deep into his hobbies, so that might count for a bit of geeksomeness. :-)

It all started with LotR. They were very much into those books when I was a kid. ;)

No one in my family loves books. Well, one of my grandmothers read a lot, and my mother read stories to me when I was little, and my dad reads books about the discovery of the north pole and things like that. But they are not the people to curl up in a corner to read fiction.

I'm the only geek here. And I have no idea how I made it happen. Maybe because I was such a shy child that a book always seemed the better alternative compared to people. *laughs* Thankfully, my parents never stopped my reading activities.
