I'm looking for a good bra. My size has changed once again, and I'm afraid that the Lane Bryant bras I've been purchasing don't really go into the new size range (DDDD/G). Also, I'm not totally into the look. I want a very supportive, comfortable bra, preferably without underwires. And Severus Snape in my bed. Tied to my bed. With chocolate sauce. Might as well go for the entire dream while I'm at it, no?

I've been wandering around a little online, but if any of you has a great link or a really great bra to suggest, I'm all (virtual) ears.

Yes! Try http://www.breakoutbras.com/ -- I found them for nursing bras, and they have like, every size and shape of bra you could desire (though not every single brand, but many brands as well) free shipping, and discounts.

The best thing is to go in person to be fitted, but I know I had to go on a trip to another city to find a shop where such services were available.

carry all the other brands that Breakout Bras don't. They have bras up to H cup. (I was an I cup during the most intensive part of nursing, and have shrunk back down to a DDD (or maybe DD, I haven't measured for six months.)

I measured myself, which isn't the best idea, of course, but at this exact moment I just wanted a guesstimate, anyway.

Right now I'm wearing a super-expensive Wacoal bra. I only own two of them, in heavy rotation, because of the cost and because I think I might still be shrinking, but it's very comfortable, this one. It's underwire though. I feel like the only way to get a comfortable underwire is to have myself measured by someone who knows what they are doing. You have to be picky or you get poked!

The only non-underwires I've ever really liked have been exercise or nursing bras. The non-wire nursing bra that worked the best was Fancee Free brand, so that might be worth investigating. The Enell bra is like a miracle, but it's really only for exercise because it smooshes you so much. I used to wear Champion bras sometimes. I think Glamorise makes a sports bra with more separation that people wear every day, but I wimped out and went with what I knew better.

My good friend wears Decent Exposures, I just remembered. She has them adjust the bra for her especially though. I like more support.

I've heard that figleaves is good. I buy mine at a specialty store in Toronto. If you are near a big city you can usually find a bra specialty store. I'd advise a professional fitting at least once, before buying online. For years I hated underwires but now I know it was because I had the wrong size. If fitted correctly they are very comfy. This is from a woman who went for several years without a bra or taking it off in the car on the way home from work or times when I needed to wear a bra.

When I was in the states recently I tried on some bras in Lane Bryant and found them quite unsatisfactory. I did like their jeans, and I know that you took yours back so it might be just different bodies.

Honestly, if your bra size has changed again, I can't stress enough how important it is to go in for an actual fitting. There's a local (well not so local when I drive to it 45 minutes away) women's shop that I go to whenever I go up or down a size to be properly fitted. I've purchased bras from there that have lasted far, far longer than anything I've ever picked up from Lane Bryant.

I think QVC makes one of its breezies bras as large as 48 DDD but I'm not sure which one it is. I love their bras. I wear a fourty DD and my favorite styles are the support bra and the lace trimmed support bra. They do have underwires but they are covered over well. They are lined with fabric that wicks away moisture and it is great for not collecting moisture under the breasts especially in summer.

I have been really liking the Platex 18-hours I picked up at that Maidenform/Bali/Playtex store at Great Lakes Crossing. No underwire, supportive, and comfy. Plus, they have a bonus card you can get there where you get a discount after so many purchases, and they will send you coupons and specials, so it's been working out well so far. :)

Also, I know we are different sizes, but I think they make these in that cup size too. At the very least, I know that store has a huge range of sizes available, and they offer measurements/fittings in store too. Hope this helps! :)

This is so very helpful. So very very helpful. My only experiences with underwires have all been rather negative, and when I found the Lane Bryant soft-cup bra I nearly went berserk. However, it just doesn't provide quite enough support, and they're getting stretched out now, so I need something more. ;)

I think I definitely have to get a fitting. There is one shop who does fittings, but I remember getting a fitting there before that was absolutely useless--now, however, I think it would be a good idea to try again.

Don't get me wrong--I adore Lane Bryant jeans. All of my jeans are from Lane Bryant, except for two brand-new pairs I bought from Torrid due to my recent problem with LB jeans. It's just the new jeans ride up in front on me. I doubt that everyone has that problem, and I hope they iron out the wrinkles because I love their jeans.

Yeah, I'm certain that I have to get a fitting, I just am trying to find links for bras I can purchase once I've had the fitting.

My LB bras have lasted a very long time, but they're a bit stretched out now, and after watching What Not To Wear for the 2398562348th time, I saw an episode with a woman with the same size bosom who was wearing the wrong bra, and when she wore the right bra, it made her look ten pounds lighter. I'm all up for that, lol. ;)

The underwire thing is all about fit. If they don't fit exactly right, the wire pokes you. Since bras are standard sizes and people's bodies aren't, it's not always easy to find an underwire that fits every person. But when they do fit, they are comfortable and supportive, and somewhat lighter and less binding than the ones without.

The thing I like best is when bras in large sizes come in pretty colors. If one has to wear a bra every day, it shouldn't be depressing.

I have remained fiercely, nuttily self-conscious about my breasts since they grew in, which is about 30 years of craziness. I go from thinking "Oh how nice my breasts are" to "OMG, how can I hide these monstrosities adequately" in mere minutes. The plus side of that is, though, a lot of knowledge about bras.

Whenever my friend Tina is in town, we have to take her to a store in Troy called Bra World. It is on John r @ 14 mile, across from Oakland Mall. Tina swears by the place as she says she has a hard size to fit as well.

I am a G cup myself, so I feel your pain. I like a bra by Goddess that doesn't have an underwire and is spectacularly supportive and has a natural shape to it. Plus, the straps don't seem to dig as badly as most bras. Their website is www.goddessbra.com. I think the product number of the one I like is GD0110BG. I don't have any of the tags anymore I'm afraid. If you are looking at sports bras that actually work, those Enell bras actually do work. I think I probably looked like an idoit at the gym after I got my first one because I was staring at the mirror in front of me in shock because my chest wasn't trying to jump rope while I was on the elliptical machine.

I'd also rec Wacoal, but yeah, they are pricy. I originally got them fitted and the straps hemmed at this lingerie shop in some Orthodox lady's basement in Boro Park, Brooklyn, where the ladies all where shaytls and long skirts, but judging by the merchandise, oh Mama! You wouldn't believe what they wear underneath! lol

After knowing the style & size, I found them a bit cheaper online from some place in Florida, and recently, I saw they're being sold at Macy's.

Anyway, try Just My Size. http://www.jms.com/ They have a large variety of bras, and specialize in...um...the fortunately endowed. They also kind of specialize in intimate apparel. I particularly like the Glamorize and Goddess bras, although they can be pricey. They have good sales, though. Glamorize is on sale right now.

Junonia, www.junonia.com, has a few bras. They specialize in athletic wear, though, so they are mostly sports bras. And their whole line is pricey, but of the highest quality.
