I really needed to be on the road yesterday. Fortunately my friends are understanding. My neck and left shoulder blade still hurt something dreadful. And now...snow. Everywhere. I might have been able to manage driving one-handed for six and a half hours, but in this weather it would have been more like ten (because I've done it before) and there's just no way.
_scourgify_ is turning out to be a happening comm. It's a new LotR/HP Sue Report community.
The Destiny Dice somehow managed to avoid getting in my pocket, so I have them for another day or two. I left them out next to the door so I could remember to get them back to my sister, but they were obviously not happy with that, and so here they are. Today's roll: "Happiness" and "Taurus". Yes, I would be very happy if a Taurus came over and levitated myself, my car, and my luggage to WI. Otherwise, random happiness-begatting Taurus, take your lime green Jell-o wigglers and split. Unless you are a masseuse.
With profuse apologies to Anne Sexton, from whom I stole it and mangled it beyond belief.
Squid/SS poem
---------
I have swam out, a possessed squid,
haunting the black waters, braver at night;
dreaming love, I have done my dance
over the Merpeople, light by light:
lonely thing, twelve-tentacled, out of mind.
A squid like that is not a squid, quite.
I have been her kind.
I have found the warm caves in the lake,
filled them with his sighs, his dark desires,
the tears that do not spill from his black eyes;
watched as he stood still and defeated:
shivering, rearranging loyalties.
A man like that is misunderstood.
I know his kind.
I have known him from afar,
waved my tentacles while he goes by,
learning the last bright thoughts, survivor
where flames still bite at him
and his ribs crack as they behold the truth.
A man like that is not ashamed to die.
I have worshipped his kind.

Find the original here. It's one of my favorites and certainly doesn't deserve to host a squid.
