Whining update
Dec. 15th, 2008 12:37 pmTruly sick now. I am so miserable. I think it was because of Typhoid Mary at work, who insisted upon coming to work over and over again, despite being violently ill and coughing on everything within reach and then disseminating her coughed-upon paperwork to the office at large. I admit, I'm oversensitive about this point, because I am contingent, and I'm at the end of the year, where I have a very limited number of days to process a ton of data, and I literally cannot take time off at all. Also, I am very susceptible to respiratory ailments, and they incubate longer in me and last longer than most people.
Saturday was the Big Move Day. Thank goodness Husband's best friend was there in the morning. Because he turned out to be Tetris Man and did this incredible job packing the truck. Since I am sick (and have strained my neck again, etc.), I was no help at all, except in clearing stuff away. Also, sister and her boyfriend came over in the afternoon and helped move the last pieces of furniture into the truck, and then we emptied the truck and went back (without best friend) for one more load. We slept that night for the first night at the new house.
In the apartment, we still have yet to pack: files from filing cabinet, random assorted office stuff, computer desk with computer stuff, bathroom stuff, the entire kitchen (WAH), random utility room stuff, random storage closet stuff.
Today I was expecting an answer from Comcast. I had an extension number written down for the guy I'm supposed to call. Unfortunately, I've lost it. *cries* I got someone else, who was insistent that I wouldn't know until Wednesday, not Monday. I am so miserable that I lost his extension number. I have auctions ending tomorrow and I am just really hating being separated from my computer. I'm sick and in pain and all I want to do is spend a couple hours with the happy stuff, but I have to leave it where the connection is at the moment. I'm not pleased with this.
Our bedroom is pretty much in working order. The office is next, and that's going to be a big job.
What's complicating everything is the fact that everything that goes in the living room has to be stored somewhere else until the flooring guys come on Dec 22nd. The thing is--I've totally run out of boxes, and I want to box the rest of Husband's grandmother's stuff and put it in the basement, and I still need to box the rest of the crap in the apartment. We're basically unpacking stuff and then turning around and repacking the same box. It's inefficient but I have no choice--I didn't expect that we would be boxing nearly all of Husband's grandmother's possessions--it was all originally supposed to go to the Salvation Army. *sigh*

Date: 2008-12-15 06:02 pm (UTC)Have you tried with the internets at home? I've gotten lucky in both of my recent moves that a kindly neighbor had an unsecured wireless network so I was able to get online at the new place even before I got the cable hooked up.

I just hope that Comcast is able to iron this wrinkle out and get us the service, and I hope it doesn't take too long. I am getting VERY sick of driving back and forth to get my internet fix.
:) Thanks for the comment.

Date: 2008-12-15 07:15 pm (UTC)I am so freaking out about the Comcast thing. I hope their investigation goes quickly...I'm afraid, though, because even though the grandma told us Comcast wouldn't service them, they actually HAD Comcast cable in 2001! And when it was disconnected, apparently there were Issues. *cries*

Date: 2008-12-16 04:36 am (UTC)I always get my moving boxes from the liquor store- another tip- dollar stores sell these great bags- usually a buck- a heavy plastic- often in quite lurid plaid- but they are great for packing soft things and stuff you need to store.
is there an internet cafe nearby- or a library- I have similar issues- too rural for high speed, so I use these options when I have particular need of hi-speed.
