GRAH GRAH GRAH

Long story short; a box of checks I had ordered disappeared in the mail. They apparently sent them to the old address, and somehow the forwarding didn't work. I went into the bank two weeks ago and they put stop payments on that box of checks and ordered new checks for me. I received the new checks last week.

I just logged into my account, and they have apparently stopped payment on all of the bills I just paid with the new checks. OMG NOES. NOES NOES NOES.

DO NOT WANT.

I will have to call tomorrow morning and get this sorted out, but DAMNIT, this is absolutely ridiculous.

That's insane! I hate checks so much anyway, for a hundred reasons. And banks for a hundred more. I use online banking, and my bank went bankrupt (ha-ha, I know) and got bought by another bank, and now everything's different--point being, I have automatic transfers and payments that were set up on the old bank site, and they're still happening, but now that I want to stop them, it says there aren't any scheduled. It's like that part got lost in the move. In fact, it says they haven't been happening (in the view transfer section), but they're on the statements. I hate all of it so much.

But I'll still take it over checks lost in the mail. That would have me in bed for days.

Dude, I've been completely crazy about having lost this box of checks. But I've managed to hold off the anxiety, thinking, well, at least I have the new checks, so for now it's taken care of, and we'll go over to the apartment and see who's living there now and find out if we can get our checks back.

But this? GRAH!! Some of those checks were due in a couple days--and with the holiday weekend?! Those BASTARDS! I'm totally pissed. Car insurance, credit card payments, electric bill, phone bill...and if I pay by phone, and then they redeposit the check? I WILL CRY.

I can't believe you haven't cried yet. And the bank won't apologize, either. They never do. There's probably going to be a fee involved. The unfairness of it is staggering.

But at least it didn't happen the day before you left or something. (See, I can look for bright sides.:)

At least it's a credit union, and they're usually very nice, and in fact did not charge me for the stop payment order, nor the replacement checks, which could have been expensive. But that does not make up for this rather difficult situation. I don't even understand how it could have happened. I signed only one stop payment order, and it was for the range of checks that was missing, and the new checks are not in that range. Er, I thought, at least. ugh.

Oh, uuuuuugh. I have nothing of value to add other than "that sucks!" and "I hope you manage to get it sorted with minimal hassle." :/

As time goes on everyone seems to be having more and more trouble with banks these days.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh SHIT! Banks -- well, it's a wonder to me that we don't all keep our money in our mattresses.

:: HUGS ::

I hope it gets straightened out soon. Will there be somebody at the bank today?

Wow, how stressful! Hopefully the holiday weekend will work in your favor and it will get straightened out before you're bouncing checks all over the place.

If checks do bounce remember to bully the bank into paying your NSF fees.

Yeah, I've never had a problem, but this is honestly due to my own fault--I totally went and ordered using a slip that I didn't look at, and it apparently had the old address on it, boo. That's what got me here.

Yeah, there are already five checks that tried to clear but didn't get through. Bastards. I didn't check my account soon enough.

And when you read the next entry, you'll see what happened with the bank. I really don't think they even know what happened.
