Holidays looming large
Dec. 21st, 2009 03:23 pmToday I have a little breathing room, but not much.
First of all, a huge thank you to
lady_branwyn! The lovely holiday lights are so much appreciated, and you're a sweetheart to think of me. *hugs*
Second, Happy Solstice, to everybody who celebrates it!
On to the boring stuff.
On Friday I was walking past the dryer, and thought, what the hell, might as well try it again just for kicks. And it started. Sounds like hell, but it works. So the weekend was spent doing endless laundry (seventeen loads, I think) and getting to know the fancy washer. It's rather amazing, honestly, and it has tons of options, but I already am seeing that some of them are kind of useless. Handwash and Bulky Items both leave the clothes so incredibly wet that it's lunacy to put them in the dryer, for example. Well, this dryer, at least.
I also spent the weekend in front of the computer. Seems like a nice, relaxing thing, but in reality I was working on eBay and Etsy listings and going a little nuts getting all the new stuff up. It's finally done.
So now I just have to tie myself to a chair and start crafting gifts. eee! There's just not enough time for this stuff, you know? At least this year is a lot calmer, because we don't have to worry about moving and unpacking.
Oh yeah...we've been in the house for a year now! Huzzah! I love it so much.
Well, that was all kinds of pointless. lol!
ETA: Oh, and I found my wedding ring! I mean, it's only a $15 plain band, but still. It's been missing for at least two months. Whew!

Date: 2009-12-22 03:07 am (UTC)I love wool. <3 Although I do have to be choosy, as my skin is sensitive to prickle-factor. I'm usually fine with a nice merino, though... some of those can be butter-soft, depending on micron count.
Dammit, I'm fibre-nerding in your journal. Heh.
I wanted to do something special tonight, as (despite not being pagan) it always made more sense to me to celebrate a winter holiday on a day the planet is actually doing or experiencing something (even if that something is the shortest day of the year) rather than on a random day that has no actual meaning to me (not being Christian, and all), but... well. Didn't quite happen. The day snuck up on me, so I settled for making cookies and writing, instead.

Date: 2009-12-22 03:38 am (UTC)And making cookies and writing is fabulous. I'm crafting gifts right now. eee! So many gifts, so little time. :( I always wait until the last minute...
