Today was a day of half-work, I'd say. Or maybe quarter-work. I've been pretty strong about getting stuff done for months, but being sick, I've kind of slowed down a little this week. I was feeling better and did go in to the day job for two days, but that is very light work, seriously. I'm not at 100% yet; while talking to Husband I had to stop to catch my breath, and I'm still dealing with lingering crud.

Anyway, I managed to do something new on Etsy that I've wanted to for ages: made-to-order listings. See, the great part of these is that I can just use the same pictures over and over and over again. I made a couple color choice photos, and the customer just picks, I make and ship out. Simple! And I had a triumph--the first one I posted sold within 2.6 seconds. Sadly, the second one only has one view after an hour, which is failcakes, but still. I love it when things sell. I'm having a tiny little jump, too, because a few people (friends/family) have wanted to buy crafted items and contacted me through FB and such. Nice surprise, that! And it's nice to have Etsy to sell this stuff through. Makes it easy now that they have coupon codes, let me tell you.

Writing is not proceeding at the moment. I've added a couple paragraphs tonight to the Big Fic, but I think it'll have to wait until tomorrow, maybe.

I was hoping to try some baking and other stuff today, like putting up the tree. I have a strange happy feeling about the holidays this year. My parents are staying with us for multiple days, and I'm so excited. I really need to get the tree together and the house cleaned by Christmas. I thought that I would at least get the tree upstairs today, but no, that did not happen.

I'm scared of this storm--our generator suddenly stopped working. I'm a little freaked out about losing power (we have well water, so no power = no water as well), and I'm hoping that it doesn't happen, or that Husband can somehow get the generator to work. *crosses fingers*

So today was a mix of goofing off and reading beloved [livejournal.com profile] josanpq fanfics (first fanfic I've just BINGED on in four months, I swear) and setting up the new Etsy stuff and also...packaging one thing. lol. I did manage to finally catch up on both LJ and Google Reader, huzzah! I love being caught up.

Hopefully tomorrow I can tear myself away from the computer more and concentrate on the house and Husband. I promised him chocolate, kisses, and snuggling for the weekend, and I want to deliver.

I hope you don't lose power. That would suck royally!

Yay for new craft selling ideas. People being able to chose what they want sounds like a great plan.

Sounds like it'll be nice your parents are coming for the holidays. I won't see my family again which is a bummer.

I hope we don't lose power, either! But with 30 mph winds coming, it's just a matter of time.

Husband just looked at it. Turns out that the maintenance company left the cap off the battery, and the liquid inside froze and shattered the battery cover. It sounds like it's a mess. He might be able to go out and get another battery. I hope so!

And it looks like the other made-to-order things I've put up have gotten almost no clicks. Nobody's interested, apparently. That first quick sale must have been a fluke. :(

I am so happy that my parents are coming out. That'll be wonderful!

I hope he can get another battery. Hopefully they won't be sold out because of the storm.

Hope the storm goes easy on you. Have fun decorating, This year we felt like decorating for the first time in years, this new place is so nice we went all out with the trees, window candles, lights, it's so lovely I might keep them up through February and then turn the smaller balcony trees into summer trees! :-D

The power seems to finally be holding steady (*crosses fingers*), so I'm back online. I had fun putting up the tree! Husband helped, and it looks like a Charlie Brown tree, but that's fine for me.

I adore your balcony trees! They look fantastic. And yeah, I'd definitely keep them up! That was a great idea.

I love my tree! It's thirty years old and kind of skinny and it lists, but I love it so. :)

Those are the best sometimes, when Mother was sick and I'd moved home to help out, we refused to ditch her favourite old tree, so for her last years it endured, skinny, ancient, but it held memories and made her last Christmases special.
