Aug. 7th, 2004 07:40 pmDay three of four days off in a row. I have, as usual, done nothing. Well, I posted a couple new chapters, but I really just need to clean the house, friends are coming over tomorrow. And I have a show next week. I need to be working. I need to make things. I am so totally computer-obsessed.
I was reading one of the Snape forums once and they were detailing lovely Snape dreams that they had had. I have never had a Severus dream, unfortunately. I never have cool dreams. I almost never have nightmares. Just an unending procession of odd dreams that seem bewildering when I wake up. People I know act in odd ways, and I can't cope. (Ah, the dreams of a control freak.)
I feal very bad for Antoine Fuqua, the director. He goes through this whole process of pre-production for a very violent and non-magical version of King Arthur. Then Jerry Bruckheimer gets on the scene in the MIDDLE of production and mentions that Disney needs a strong summer movie, so they've bumped up the release date from December to July. Then he mentions that Disney would really, really love a PG13 movie instead of the R that he is making. So he had to make---or felt that he should make, considering that he was overbudget and overtime---a PG 13 movie.
His only consolation? Disney will supposedly release an R version on DVD alongside the PG13 version. Fuqua was completely nice about the entire thing in an interview with EW, but I still feel badly for him. The movie ended up costing $90 mil, it isn't what he wanted, it isn't entirely what Disney wanted, and the whole thing cost a lot and was a giant pain to film.
I can only imagine a tiny bit of the hell that he must have gone through to do this film, and it isn't pretty. What a mess. I wonder how well it did at the box office.
