I decided to try to go to the show anyway. I worked on packaging merchandise and pricing and used up every available moment.

I got to the venue this morning after a pleasant 1hr 15min drive. The show was much smaller than expected. There was no place to put another table.

So I asked the guy running the show about whether or not I could get in. He actually had my application with him, and looked it over. There was one empty table. I asked him about it, and he said the woman would be there any minute.

Then, in the most astonishing turn of events, another vendor who had overheard the conversation came over to offer one of his tables if it was needed.

This is never done. I nearly fell over. A vendor, voluntarily giving up precious table space? Incredible!

But the show guy said no, and mumbled something. I didn't hear what he said; I assume that creating an aisle between the vendor's tables and my own would have created some fire marshall issues.

Anyway, I waited around until there were only fifteen minutes left before the show opened, and the woman still wasn't there, and I went over one last time to be certain I couldn't have her space.

She still wasn't there at 10 when the show opened.

On the way home there was a disastrous accident and they shut down the highway I needed to take home. I ended up driving through some very pretty country roads and dirt roads and enjoying it, even though it took me so far out of the way.

Home now, for the weekend. At least I'll be able to work on some drabbles, and hopefully finish the next chapter.

OK THAT SUCKS!

I am glad you had a nice drive home and all, but come on. That guy was an ass and even though the other merchant that offered the table that guy would still not let you in.... F*%# that guy. :)

I hope things work better for you next time. :)

Yeah, I was pretty miffed. I wasn't some crazy person; I'd spoken to the show promoter, who had given him my contract, and I was ready to set up.

I'm more peeved that the woman didn't show up to claim her space. She called to say that she was late, apparently.

A very good friend is vending at the show, and she'll tell me whether or not the table ended up being used or not. I really hope the lady did show up, or I'll be really sad.

Thanks, I hope so too!

Argh, that sucks. That was really nice of that other vendor to offer a table, too. Kind of stupid of the guy to say no when it's the other vendor who would be losing.

Yeah, I don't get it, except maybe it would cause spacing problems. I'll just have some more shows. :(

They should have given you the table. But I have to wonder, was that no-show woman in that accident, maybe?

But then I'm horribly morbid.

Hmmm...I have a feeling she was local, and he knew her. Though it isn't too much of a stretch to think she had been coming from that direction.

Even if she wasn't involved, she might have been delayed in the tie-up.

He still should have given you the table.

The tie up was about fifty miles away...not certain that she'd have come from that direction, but it's a possibility.

And I can't understand why I couldn't have the vendor's freely-offered table; oh well. :)

You seem less disappointed than your previous comments would have suggested. Perhaps because of the show's unexpected size?

It's nice to see people who don't let themselves down for unworthy misfortunes.

Very perceptive of you! Yes, after seeing that most of the customers in the first ten minutes were above the age of 60, I was a little less disappointed. Generally, in this industry at least, women over 60 are not interested at all in the type of product I sell, so it might not have been a good fit.

I'm hoping my friend will e-mail me and let me know how the show went.

Not because I am a helpless fan girl or anything.

I'm still trying to figure out who you are, in some ways. When you first friended me and you had so few entries, I was worried that you might be a troll. It was either that or you were a little bit wacky and fun.

How did you find me, by the way? :)

I found tLS on fanfiction.net when browsing for my daily HP fix. I don't usually visit ff net, and I haven't read any fics that wasn't slash all the way through that wasn't less than one page long, but your writing is very captivating. As soon as I read the first paragraph or so, I knew I was going to sit through the whole thing, which I did.

Here I am, hopeless fan girl that's been reading slash for six years and never commented on much until now. That's because when I feel like there's something to be said, it's usually a downer and everyone generally tells me to go away. =P

By the way, I'm going to write a huge review on tLS soon, be prepared...

A-ha! You're a reader! How absolutely lovely! *does a dance of joy*

I don't always comment on what I read, either. I try to comment on the things that touched me, and occasionally (very rarely) I leave a bit of concrit, but I'm always a bit worried when I do that.

A huge review? Oh, that sounds fabulous. *drools* We all love reviews, don't we? ;)
