So my lovely friend [livejournal.com profile] bookwench2096 and her co-conspirator put on a lovely show today...they call it the Fox Hunt. It was quite funny.

Here are the contestants, in all their glory. The lady in black is the Merry Widow.

The lineup.

They were asked to strike a Heroic Pose.

Heroic pose.

And then a Come Hither Pose. I love the guy on the right; he was naughty and such a pirate.

Come hither pose.

The Contrite Pose.

I'm so sorry pose.

They were asked to show their best side.

His best side pose.

The poses were part of the Modeling portion of the show. There was also a Wooing portion, where they would attempt to woo a lady in the audience. The guy in the shapeless purple muffin hat did a lovely job, I was quite surprised. Then there was the Chivalry portion. The Widow or the Librarian (my friend) would drop a handkerchief, and the men were supposed to retrieve it for them. Most of the men did it in rather pedestrian ways. Except for the pirate.

Here he is retrieving the handkerchief. With his teeth. And he did it again, in slow motion.

Retrieving the kerchief.

This guy had a rather silver tongue. He was quite composed. And I think that he was wearing a kilt as it was meant to be worn, unlike the other Scot there, who was cheating and had on rather unattractive shorts underneath.

The three winners were the Scot, and the two at the right hand side of the competition (the Pirate and the other guy in garb). The guy in garb won because they were all asked to show their special talent. The Scot sang (hence this pic), but the guy in garb only did one thing; he walked up, cleared his throat theatrically, said in a very loud voice, "Yes, Dear!" and then bowed. He won by a landslide.

Singing Scot.

The wicked hostesses of the competition enjoy their rewards.

The wicked enjoy their rewards.

The pirate with the pirate bandanna was my fave. He was really naughty in person. But the winner was quite a ham.

The two guys on the right are hilarious. I love their 'come hither' poses.

The silliness of it all. I miss it, sometimes.

They were really the highlight of it all, honestly. I have a feeling that they've done this before, too. ;) Plus, they are married to other festival denizens...

He was really uncomfortable, but he did a great job with the wooing. He was very, very sweet, and completely relieved when they let him leave the stage, where he immediately sat down next to his wife and put his arm around her. It was so cute. They were sitting next to me, too.
