Hey, for the tLS soundtrack people...
Oct. 11th, 2005 11:18 pm...let me know (if you haven't already) if you received your soundtrack safely...
...and what you thought of it, if you have a moment.
I listened to it a few more times. The Muse song (Time Is Running Out) really seems to sum up the Sarah/Severus relationship for me and is more important than I expected. I should have put the Coheed & Cambria song last.
And some songs take on a greater significance post-HBP, while others seem to have lessened. Anyway, any thoughts would be welcomed.

Date: 2005-10-12 05:21 pm (UTC)Wow, I'm so glad you like the Coheed & Cambria song (#15)! That was the song I was least certain about putting on the disk. For me, it really is a great "Last Battle" song, and I enjoy thinking of the Hogwarts students versus adult Death Eaters while listening to it.
I'd love to know songs that you think fit tLS! You don't have to send them to me, though, that's a lot of trouble...just a couple titles would be awesome. :)
I think #13 "Time is Running Out" is my favorite on the disk. I really think it sums up their relationship so perfectly, mentioning contradictions, being trapped/restricted, addiction...and then there's the fact that they've almost been the death of each other...more than once, in Severus's case.

Date: 2005-10-12 07:34 am (UTC)I drew/painted this (http://www.designerpotions.com/darkarts/art/fanart/hp/fanon/tls_by_snapesforte.jpg) while I was listening to the soundtrack. I don't like it... I have issues with drawing 'plain' women (my females all seem to want to be drama queens on the page, and I tried not to do that o Sarah, because it would be so OOC). Anyway, if by some small miracle you actually like it, let me know, and I will owl a large file size that you can print (if you so wish).

Date: 2005-10-12 05:28 pm (UTC)I love "The Beekeeper"...it was so perfect to write the whole Bonfire arc to, because of the overall theme of sacrifice of the song. Love that song so much.
I love #3 because it really makes me think of Severus, who found such a home with the Death Eaters, but then (possibly) betrayed them, or betrayed the Order, or...oh, you get it, the whole trust/betray thing.
I love the Depeche Mode song! It makes me squee. If I had any artistic talent at all I'd do a fanvid with still drawings to it, I have it all figured out in my head. It is so firmly Severus/Lucius in my head.
I'm glad you like #15...I almost didn't put it on the disk! But it really sums up the whole Hogwarts student/adult Death Eater vibe of the Last Battle, at least to me.
YOU DREW SOMETHING FOR TLS?!!! *hyperventilates*
OMG!!
Thank you so incredibly much!!!
Wow...I love Sarah's look...so introspective...and Severus, casual with her as he would not be with many others...
I can't thank you enough! *squee!!!!!*
Oh, please send me the file! Thank you again!

Date: 2005-10-14 02:41 am (UTC)That being said, the Severusmusic was chilling. I had forgotten how evil-sounding metal music can be. #2 felt like fire- like a whacked out Dark revel (fanon, I know, but still...)
#3 had a weird juxtaposition of lyric and tune. The words are so comforting but the music tells you it's all a lie.
#7 for Sarahmusic really could be Severus too (rejected/nowhere to go/fallen from grace - but be strong!)
#9 had a similar feel- 'it costs so much to live'.
#11 held the tiniest bit of hope while still being sad
#12 is the closest they can get to being happy, eh?
#13 was great- yes, it's despondence and fear of death but it also has the tiniest bit of hope in it.
Thanks for all this work. It makes the story every so much scarier. I suspect I'll be hearing these DE songs now anytime the bad boys crop up in fanfic.

Date: 2005-10-14 02:57 am (UTC)I am so fascinated by reactions to the music.
#3 really gets to me. It's this whole false feeling of security. I can listen to it two ways; either Severus joining the Death Eaters and betraying them, or joining the Order and betraying them.
#7...normally I am not an Avril fan, but I heard this song one day and realized, wow, this is Sarah's story, near-perfect.
#9...I love "Duck and Run". I feel that it brings out the intense price she's paid to live, but that she just cannot give in, no matter what has happened, that she has this incredible will to keep moving forward.
#11...Kate Bush is awesome, and the Song of Solomon is a fantastic song. I love that it portrays a woman in charge of her own life and sexuality.
#12...completely right! They are both "true" for each other, and they have already "come through" for each other, more than once, which is more than many other people have done.
#13 is my favorite, honestly. I just can picture it as if it was a music video. At one time it was associated with a (now excised) plot line involving Severus foolishly leaving to his presumed death, having been found out by DEs but still going to the meeting just in case he could somehow slither out of it. Love this song. I could see him pushing her to the wall, crushing their lips together. That plot line just didn't hold up well, though, and was only a momentary thought on my part, but the song still says so much about their relationship. After all they've lived through I imagine neither one would let go willingly once they've grabbed on to something.
I'm so glad that you enjoyed this! Thanks again for commenting!
