Last night I finally purchased my ticket to Australia.

This is going to be an expensive trip. And I am really starting to feel the butterflies. Instead of going on this trip, I could be paying off a charge card. Or getting dental work done. Or using it as a down payment on a new vehicle. But I'm going to Australia. Eleven days that will be over quickly, and then I'll be back to the present, with only some pics to show for it.

I know, I know, travel is wonderful, broadens the mind, all that. I just feel really wierd that I'm doing this. I'm usually more practical than this.

But when will I have the chance to go to Australia again?

I just don't know. So I have to try now.

But that doesn't mean that I'm not going nuts. I am going nuts. Really. I'll owe in taxes (I always do every year, the fun of owning your own business) and I'll be broke, and I'll say Why did I take that trip.

*sigh*

I'm certain I'll feel very differently when I'm actually there, but right now, I'm a little freaked out.

You are going to have a great time - there will always be bills to pay, taxes to owe, and responsibilities present in our lives. They are omnipresent, unfortunately. So treating yourself once in a while like this is a very good thing! :) When are you going? Is this a solo trip? Details details! :D

Oh and we will be at fest this weekend both days, at least, I will be - Bradd is DJing friday night so him being there Saturday is iffy, but Sunday for sure. :)

I will be going with my friends from WI, and I will be staying in Sydney one night, six nights in Cairns, and four nights on Heron Island.

I will probably see you on Saturday, then, but I will miss the [livejournal.com profile] bradd. :(

enh that is normal. You will have fun though. Australia is very cool. I dig it big time. And...that is what I said about Hong Kong, but you know what. I loved Hong Kong, every second of it and while I am nervous about the money thing a little, I will find a way through. faith manages. so go to australia!

Nothing worth doing actually comes without a price. If it makes you feel better - Australia is a helluva deal since all the money you spend once you're there nearly doubles in value. So you get the world's cheapest food, lodging, film (you might want to develop it there) and souvenirs. At least you actually have the money to take the chance and do this without aabsolutely breaking the bank. Presently, I don't even have the money to make that choice. But dammit I will, and then I'll be off to another new place. Enjoy yourself. I promise to look at every photo you take when you get back! :) (enviously yours, H.)

That's a big promise...I am taking all three 256K memory cards, so 300+ pics. There is a fab cemetery outside of Sydney.

I had a choice between seven days and no Sydney and 11 days with one day in Sydney for an extra $400 airfare...so I took the Sydney option. Just to see the cemetery. That kind of scares me.

I'll definitely put a few of the good pics on LJ.

The timing is too bad - my friend in Sydney is actually in the UK right now and then will be coming here in a few weeks, so he can't take you out and show you around. Or when are you going? Maybe he'll be back by then...

I will only be in Sydney for one day. That day will be October 13th (Australian date). And I already know I will be spending some time at the graveyard of amazing things. :)

Anthony would happily trundle along in the graveyards with you, or meet you for lunch afterwards...if he's in Sydney. Heck, you may meet him at my house in October, depending on his plans.

Sounds cool! I have to look up the cemetery again so that I can remember which one it is. I'll have to print out directions, we are renting a car. I don't think my friends will want to accompany me...they have a five year old who will be with us, and I don't think that they'd want him to wander a cemetery. ;) So they'll probably drop me off for a few hours.

EEEE. Oh wow. Australia would be a fantastic place to visit. Even though it takes a lot of money, and it leaves you paying off things, you may be grateful later for taking the chance when you had it, and having that experience before you get too bogged down in life and work to be able to do it.

I'm already in that frame of mind about the trip I took earlier this year, and the one I'm going to take in February. The price is worth it, to see places like that, IMHO.

I've really just got to bite the bullet and go. The price is steep, but if I'm creative with my money I can do it, so I'm going to. Yay!
