Yes, it's that time again. Once again, I find myself overextended on the flist.

If I could friend everyone, and read everything, I would. Absolutely. Unfortunately, I don't have that much time. And I'm starting to get ready for the busy part of the year, when I'll be working quite a bit.

[livejournal.com profile] pen_and_umbra once said that a flist is a Work In Progress, and I agree. Our tastes change on a regular basis, after all, and sometimes we just aren't clicking with people we once clicked with.

I don't use filters. I read every entry on my flist that's from a personal journal. I can see that, while I have been able to keep up with it so far, in another month or two it would be overwhelming.

I'll be defriending over the next few days. I hate writing these posts, and I'm always sad when I see other people posting something similar. But it's part of the LJ experience. It's nothing personal.

I apologize in advance, and I hope this doesn't cause any inconvenience.

Don't worry *hugs* I'm sure people understand, no-one wants you to have to be you to be intimate friends with the '223049459345 entries back' button on your flist

If I'm to go it's ok! (Not that I want to...but if you do...oh, I'll be quiet now!)

Perfectly understandable. A large flist can eat up a lot of time, and we're all drawn together by interests that are often fluid and ever changing. No offense taken if you choose to defriend me. Besides, won't I see you at Lumos? : )

Sorry to hear that LJ is giving you stress. :-( I hope that some f-list pruning will help banish that feeling of being overwhelmed!

You're really sweet.
And I wish I knew how to post one of those cute little hearts, but I don't :-(, so just this: *heart*

Please, don't feel guilty about defriending. A day has only 24 hours; so your need to limit your LJ reading time while being busy is perfectly understandable.

When you defriend someone, they are still free to enjoy your posts, comment on them and keep contact. Well, at least I would do so. The whole defriending thing is much more grave on f-locked journals, when defriending causes a real cut. Okay, you might hit some person's ego for not *reading* them any more, but hey, so what? If we really have to say something to each other, we will find a way. If not, why go on pretending? I admit that I *am* really happy if someone is friending me back. Mutuality is a wonderful thing. But I don't want to transform this into a competition in How-many-(famous)-people-are-on-my-flist. 'Not friends' - no offence taken.

Basically, LJ is not so different from RL. Sometimes, people who have been close need to walk separate paths for some time. Some leave your life and others join in. And every so often, reunion waits just around the next bend. :-)

Oops, long comment. ;-)

Hugs and hearts to you!

It's getting a bit out of hand. Some days I end up with skip 120 in just ten or twelve hours! ;) I'm a speed reader, but still, I'm going to be gone for some time in the coming months, and I hope to minimize my catchup reading when I return.

Don't worry about going, either. Not that it's such a great thing to be on my flist, but I would be very sad if I caused you any worry. :)

I think the biggest portion of stress comes from the actual defriending part! *laughs* The few times I've done it before, I've been a bit mental for a little while.

Yes, honestly, you're completely right. My journal is completely unlocked. In fact, some of the people I've defriended before still watch it. It isn't personal; it's just the continual pruning and growing that is involved in a flist.

I like my flist to completely reflect the journals I am actually reading. That's what makes me feel happy.

No filters.

No flocks.

Every personal entry on the fpage.

It might not always be true in the future (one day I have a feeling filters/flocks might be involved), but it is completely true right now.

*hugs in return*

Same here! I'll love to meet up with you and chat at Lumos.

Eep! Every time you make a post like this, I get all nervous. I know she means me, I've gotten too boring and whiny and amazingly dull, I just know it! But that's okay if you do mean me, you have so many people and communities on your flist, I don't know how you find time to sleep, trying to keep up with it all. I have a filter that weeds it down to just personal friends and a couple of communities, then I check in at other communities I belong to occassionally. I don't think I could manage to read it all like you do.
I'll still read you cuz I love ya, babe!
