Happy Holidays!

For those of you who are new to the list, may I just introduce you to the valis Everyone Gets A Compliment meme!

It all came about originally because one of those anon hate memes went around the fandom, as they do, and many of the people on my flist were doing some sort of meme where if someone responded to the meme you'd say something nice about them. But I can never do things the right way and I just decided to write everyone a compliment.

My disclaimer of dhûm: I hope no one is offended by this. Remember, this is all subjective, it's what popped into my head when I thought of these usernames. Also, I only wrote blurbs for mutual friends. Please don't be sad...this took several hours just doing mutual friends.



_lore New to the flist. Loves werewolves, especially sweet loony ones, which cannot be a bad thing. Can't wait to read more entries.

_noesumeragi_ Exuberant, fun, and draws lovely things. What's not to like?

absurdwords is definitely a trusted partner in crime. Especially crime involving gleefully uncovering misspelled words and astonishing feats of bad!ficcery. She's always helpful, upbeat, and I know I can count on her to accompany me for any sort of mischief. Yes, even meme!havoc. Especially meme!havoc. She's awesome.

ac1d6urn Amazing, taut fic? Check. Astonishing art? Check. Yes, this one-woman wonder does two things in fandom extraordinarily well. And she's unfailingly polite. And occasionally she will research fairy tales for you in the dead of night. She's just that awesome.

aerynstales And who is this? Why, it's Aeryn! One of my first LJ friends, and the first person I ever chatted with. She's cool, she's full of energy, and she and her writing partner lfire1 are so prolific it's astonishing. Seriously, I've never seen people write so much! She's got opinions, and she's quite the spark. She must be so much fun to hang out with!

agatha_s A noble princess. A woman with an inscrutable icon. She'll tell your fortune if you're lucky, and if you're not, she'll force you to play F on a guitar. And no one wants that. Unless you have twenty fingers. A longtime LJ friend, and very wonderful.

angelruse Dreaming the dreams of the fandom-addicted. Where will she dream next? Rivendell? Hogwarts? The Maldives?

annecatherine I miss her.

aphrodeia Ladies and gentlemen, make way for the Original Diva, the Original Admin, the Original Ginger Cat Owner! Seriously, she owns every ginger tabby cat ever made. Her collection is extensive!

aramintasnape You could not reach her level of nice with a happiness bazooka. I'm serious. You would have to bathe in chocolate for at least two days before you could get to her level of sweetness. She's full of kind words just bursting to get out! Plus, she hoists the Sinistra banner, which is great.

arionrhod I love her fic! She's just so great at crawling into RL and SS and turning them into terrific stories. Smart and classy. And so tremendously sweet!

athenakt A fellow Snape h/c seeker, and so helpful and sweet! Fun and energetic. And she has a Daria icon! Serious happiness there. I really like her.

avus Grandfather Squid, always so positive and engaging. A true gentleman...and he's on the internet! What a surprise!

b2wm Loves Cthulu, hates Sues. Is simply the best person at your side for those late night orc raids. Do not attempt to get in the way if Boromir shows up suddenly, though, unless you want to be wearing an axe.

blackletter One of those fascinating people in LJland who seem to exist on the sidelines. I don't mean this in a bad way; I just mean that she's a well-kept secret, I think. Being on her flist can be quite rewarding. Eunuchs, Gabaldon fanfic, and the occasional national park real-life murder mystery all combine for an intriguing journal that I love to read. Seriously, she's one of the most original and unusual LJers I've met.

cactus_wren She is great! I love reading her updates. She has a great sense of humor, and is just so warm and funny. She doesn't update often, and yet you still get such a great idea of what she's like from her very fun and friendly writing style. I like her a lot.

caladan_dd She's one of those amazing talents that showed up in fandom and just took over immediately. Seriously, her flist blossomed overnight. She's that good. Any one of her drawings is a fandom classic. I love her details...she's one of those artists who cares about every aspect of her pieces. Just terrific. And she's so sweet and unassuming, and so unfailingly polite...just a treasure.

cantabile Fun and sweet. Likes tea. Always wondering about things in a very sweet way.

cantatrix05 I have to say this, even though I know it's going to sound silly, but posting a new chapter just isn't satisfying until she reviews it. Honestly. Her reviews are awesome. In detail, with lovely fascinating questions and thoughts. I really jump in my seat as soon as I see that she's reviewed. And she's just so nice and everything!

catsintheattic Very new to the flist...I'm still getting to know her. But she seems lovely.

chocolate_limes I WANT MORE CHOCOLATE LIMES WAAAAAAAAAAH. Chocolate limes are hysterical and witty and funny and make me snort strawberry Quik. I don't even drink strawberry Quik.

chrysantza One of those regular updaters. Strong opinions and BPAL reviews, and y'know, I never ever thought I would be this interested in reading multiple reviews of perfume oils, but damned if I don't read every last one. She's fun. I really enjoy her entries.

circumartificia I miss her.

cordelia_v One of those smart essayist fans! I love her essays. I love her entries. She's so intelligent and logical, and so very passionate about the things she's interested in. I'm very happy to be on her flist! I like the tone of her entries very much. That sounds like a really weird comment, but it's true. Her entries are so polished and lovely.

cruisedirector One of those awesome, awesome writers in fandom. Not only does she write terrific fic, but she's prolific as well. What a combo! I read nearly everything she writes, even pairings I usually avoid. She has a way of bringing out a great detail or thought pattern, something new, in nearly every story. Even when she's writing a character she's written a hundred times before she still brings something new and unusual and thought-provoking. I admire her writing so very much. She's has strong opinions and stands behind them.

dark_cygnet Few can match the overwhelming exuberance that is the Swan of Many Smooches! A sweet and utterly wonderful LJer, sassy and full of joy and light. She makes fandom a nicer place. She's so exuberant and sweet.

deepforestowl She's explored so many things since I first met her. She was one of the very first LJers I friended. Her journal has gone so many places; Japan, heartbreak, the wilds of college instruction. She feels each new day so deeply. She has such a big heart. I hope that she gets everything she's looking for, and more. *hugs*

delicfcd He would make a superb mustache-twirling villain in the next Bond movie. Or at least a fry cook at McDonald's. He's that talented. And if you've ever seen the UFO he's building in his backyard, then you understand the true meaning of the word devoted.

eloisasnape What can I say about her? She has enough moxie to overwhelm a small army. I adore her. Her entries are like minature hurricanes, leaving comedic destruction in their wake. No subject is too big for her; she works them all over with her sassy, feisty charms, and beats them into submission. She is one of those rare spirits on LJ; her personality floods her journal, and it's so fun and tragic and hopeful and disappointed and luverly and so very much like the real life we all have to face each day, but all infused with this dark, rich humor that it just makes you cringe and laugh out loud at the same time. Definitely an original.

fernwithy A smart essayist. I continually clicked on her essays after seeing links in daily_snitch and friended her so I could keep up. She has many essays on so many topics; sane, deliberated, full of interesting thoughts and hypotheses.

florence_craye Y'know, sometimes you just click with another LJer. Is it an illusion? Is it a recognition of kindred thoughts? I feel like I've clicked with her. She's funny and interesting and very into obscure words. I like her writing and her personality.

furiosity The one and only F, proud, defiant, and full of opinions. The original and never duplicated. Is unrepentent, and isn't afraid to be so. Funny.

gillieweed My constant chat partner, the one who gets an eyeful of all the awful fic links I find, the one who listens to my rants (the uncensored ones), the one who is always up for looking for teh funneh on teh interwebs. I absolutely love bantering with gillie; I've had so much fun chatting with her. She's smart, funny, and great. Gillie keeps me sane in a world full of scary people. Gillie fights for oppressed peoples everywhere---wait, that was somebody else. Gillie not only listens to my half-coherent chat babblings, she actually seems to understand them. She's got a great dry wit, and she's awesome.

gina_r_snape The amazing one-woman force that is Gina...what can I say? Smart, funny, and cool. She's beautiful in an unconventional way, and terrific. She's got a great fire in her mind, and a terrific sense of purpose and lots of good thoughts.

gmth An awesome fandom force. I am always fascinated with those larger-than-life fans, the people who actually do things in fandom. She's one of those "backbone" people, who works very hard and makes the fandom a better place. Plus, she's great. She always seems so savvy, passionate, and funny.

hill_ Very new to the flist! An artist whom I've admired for some time. There is something so original about her drawings that they always intrigue me. I love the lines and the looks on the subjects' faces. She has this way of differentiating people. Seriously, there are so many canon characters with black hair, yet you can immediately tell her Sirius and her Severus apart, with no hesitation. She has this fey, studied look to her drawings that just draws me in.

iibnf She is one of the funniest LJers evah. Though not for the faint of heart. Or stomach, for that matter.

ildi_bp An awesome artist, sweet, who creates beautiful drawings full of life and love.

imadra_blue F's evil twin. Or is F her evil twin? Who knows? She's sassy and speaks her mind. Her journal has Tori lyrics, which delights me every single time. And I love her writing. Her Star Wars characters---both canon and original---live and breathe and fight and love.

jen_deben Literate and interesting, full of lots of thoughts. She's always dissecting things and trying to understand them better.

julian_black She's one of those LJers that I feel a connection to. She's extremely intelligent and has a dry wit. A fashion purist, and a very interesting person. She's another person with a really unique journal. I really like reading her entries. She writes about a lot of different topics, and I really enjoy that. She seems like the kind of person that I could have one of those conversations with in real life where you look at the clock and realize you've been talking for five hours about beeswax, literacy rates, and the cost of cheese in Italy, and yet it was never boring and you can't believe that five hours have passed.

junediamanti One of the first LJers I friended! I've watched her endure the slings and arrows of her original pairing, and the trolls of doom. I've seen her finally finish her Epic Tale of Snape, and it's given me hope that I, too, will finally finish one day. She holds court in her LJ, dispensing tidbits of Russian history, British cooking, and the occasional interesting short fic. She's very direct, says what she means, and I love reading her fandom musings.

kaiz One of the authors of one of my favorite fics, and an interesting, smart fan to exchange comments with. I love her writing. Plus she posts fun links occasionally. Enthusiastic and very nice! She also wrote a fic for last year's Smutmas that absolutely BLEW ME AWAY with its sheer intensity and astonishing imagery and...wow. It was not an easy read, but it was one of those fics that is shattering.

karasu_hime A terrific, prolific artist, and a true fandom treasure. Her lovely, ethereal drawings bring out the soft, playful side of the HP characters, and she has such a beautiful, light touch. Her drawings glow with light and love. And she is such a nice person! Truly an awesome person to have on any flist.

khames Great artist...but few updates! Wah.

kleio_the_muse Gotta love the kleio! Fun and sassy, full of vim and vigor, with such an appreciation for Spike! I love her writing. She really draws you into the characters in a very, very believable manner. I really get into her fics. They are so unique and they have such depth and humor. Plus she's funny and naughty! Her journal is definitely uncensored, and makes me laugh out loud.

lady_branwyn I absolutely love her LotR fiction. It's beautiful and so lovingly written. You can see the care she takes in selecting each and every word. I am so in awe of even her drabbles. She is a terrific talent, and a very sweet, kind, and unassuming lady. Just all around terrific and so very, very nice. Did I mention I love her writing? I love her writing.

larilee Wrangler of muses, and all around helpful person. A staunch reviewer of fics, and someone who helps out at SH. A fandom resource! Very nice.

ldybastet A fellow Lucius fan, who writes him so deliciously. I like how she's unafraid to interpret him differently in different fics. She's an interesting LJer, and I love her journal, full of terrific fic and humor and thoughts.

ledivinemarquis One of the marvels of the fandom world. Her incredibly detailed, fabulous drawings never cease to amaze me. Her Rickman!Snape is breathtaking, all sneer, scowl, and snarl, lovely and regal. A wonderful talent.

lfire1 The other side of the quirky aerynfire combo! Fun, feisty, and fabulous. Too bad she doesn't update often!

linnpuzzle An amazing artist. Just amazing, wondrous, and so talented.

logospilgrim A woman unafraid to explore the spiritual side of fandom, which is quite unique. She gives so much of herself. She cares tremendously for her work and for the world. A fascinating person!

lush_rimbaud A poet and someone who is unafraid to write what she feels, which is a very good thing. Extremely witty.

luvboromir24601 She's awesome, a very cool person with a lot of spirit. She's smart and interesting. She's one of my first LJ friends, and I'm very happy that she's here in LJland. She's very warmhearted and she is honest and straightforward. If I were playing dodgeball I would so want her on my team. First pick. I like her very much.

mariannelee I never thought I would get a beta who would be able to put up with my stubborn ass. And then Marianne appeared, like a bolt from the blue, and she said, yea, verily, don't put that adverb at the end of the sentence. Not only that, but she shares my love for italics. She's wonderful and I'm grateful to have her on the flist!

mehitobel_ny Fairly new! But already I sense a fun sense of humor and an interesting life. Can't wait to get to know her more.

mimbulus Mimbie, the sweet LJer, someone I sympathize with very much. I really enjoy reading her journal and seeing glimpses into life in Israel. She's kindhearted, a bit shy, and just seems like a sweetheart.

mortifyd A very smart, awesome person who doesn't tolerate fools, and who is unafraid to tell it like it is. I'm always interested in what he has to say. His LJ entry style is smart and engaging, and he's full of hopes and thoughts.

ms_hecubus Fun, exuberant, witty and awesome. She even has a government-infested-by-penguins icon. Who can't love that? Honestly, she's great. And if I can get all of my ducks in a row and stop being sick and scattered, I can actually meet her. *laughs*

musigneus Very nice and unassuming. So polite, too! And she writes terrific fic, really terrific fic, and I just adore her writing style. She doesn't spend a lot of time online, but I always squee when she updates. She has a lovely sly sense of humor.

mysduende The dark and lovely queen of Snapedom...she's just plain fabulous. Her website is great, and she's so wry and fascinating, and she really is a terrific source of Snape information. Anyone on her flist is treated to all of the latest Snape pics and all the Snape news that's fit to print. And some that isn't! Yum! I absolutely love her reviews of fic. She's so in-depth. She notices so much.

nassima A wonderful artist, who has a really unusual and beautiful style. Very kindhearted and opinionated, and her amazing pics of flying are really breathtaking. I like her a lot and look forward to her entries.

nimori New to the flist, and I can't wait to read and find out more!

odyssey01 I love odyssey's style! It's so bold and striking. So friendly and nice that you'll be amazed! And did I mention the art? Oh yes, the art is wonderful. Fun and light, with strong lines, though not without serious moments. I love the faces. Sharp-eyed, thoughtful, fascinating looks.

ozymannedias Haven't seen her in awhile.

painless_j New to the flist! Of course she's legendary already, with her amazing themed lists, and her really tremendous reccing capabilities. What a resource here in HP fandom! And from what I've seen, she seems very cool.

pandora_nervosa Let's just say that I would so love to take a trip with pandora. I just know that we could talk for hours, and then have a blast wherever we ended up, even if it was something boring like World's Largest Ball of Twine. Ever find someone on LJ with lots of similar thought patterns and likes and dislikes? Kind of a LJ doppleganger? Yeah, that's pandora for me. It's weird how much we have in common. I lurve her, she's the bee's knees. If she lived nearby we would be watching bad movies and poking fun at them while eating chocolate and drooling over Spike!pics. I would be Crow and she would be Tom Servo. Or maybe it's the other way around. I just know we'd have lots of fun.

pen_and_umbra She is stylish, freakishly talented, and just all around amazing. Pen is a terrific writer, an amazing graphics guru, and so cool and totally wonderfully casual! I lurve her. She is awesome. I'm so geeked to meet her at Lumos. She really is interesting and every conversation I've had with her has been a lot of fun. You know how sometimes you just feel a connection to people? She's one of those people. When I read a story by her I am always blown away. She's so talented and detailed and amazing. And hysterically funny.

privatemaladict A really wonderful person. I'm so glad to have met her on LJ. She's terrific, bright, and funny. Just an all around sweetheart! Plus, she's such a sport...she even shared some of her early work. *grins* Though it didn't contain floating cats, I hasten to add. She was one of the first people I friended, and I love reading updates about her life. At this point I feel like we've been LJ friends for a long time, and I can almost immediately recognize her entries on the flist, even without an icon.

rexluscus Someone (fairly certain it was cordelia) recced a story by her, and I went and read it, and was blown away. I have a folder entitled "Great Fic" and there are very few pieces in it, and hers is one of them. I absolutely loved it, and friended her so that I could keep an eye on any new fic she might write. I was deliriously happy to find out that she was also extremely interesting, literate, and full of fascinating conversations about fandom! She's another person I feel a connection to. She's very cool. I can't wait to have more conversations with her.

sigune Cool, calm, collected, and such a talent! Her comics are amazing. Her drawings are so quirky and fantastic. I absolutely adore the beginnings of her fascinating OC, who is part hag. Yes, part hag! Is there anything more original than that in HP fandom right now? Well, not much, honestly. And not only is she into making art, she's also into talking about making art, which is a big fave of mine. And she's sweet and nice as well!

snapesforte The Snape-iest of LJ-friends. Truly an original. She marches to the beat of her own drummer. She has style, purpose, and is smart and savvy. She doesn't suffer fools, and she is not shy about her feelings. She's also a terrific artist. She has this incredible, unique style to her drawings that has a deep, dark vibe to it that is just irresistable to me. Her lines are so unusual, and the look of her work is so unlike anything else out there, and it's fabulous. It's so textured and it draws you in. And her fic! I am completely absorbed in her Soul Play story. She has explored the Slytherin mindset for so long that reading her writing feels like reading canon but from the "other" side's POV. It's amazing. She's drawn in JKR like a sponge and assimilated all of the important details, and written an absorbing and riveting story. It's one of those where you feel like you have no idea what's going to happen next, which is difficult to do.

snarkypants Interesting, relatively new to the flist. Very cool, has a casual and interesting entry style that I really like. Is funny and irreverent as well.

snegurochka_lee Relatively new to the flist. I absolutely love her writing. It's absolutely awesome. And now, after reading her journal for a month or so, I find that she's just so exuberant, awesome, and cool. I love her entries. She is so passionate and smart, filled with fire. I like her a lot.

straussmonster She always has something interesting to say. Such dry wit, and such strong opinions. I'm always intrigued with her entries about opera.

subrosax A hurricane of hipness, a blizzard of bitchin' kewl, she will shake you down for your ice cream money and laugh and skip away in shining green boots while you scratch your head and wonder what happened. Okay, maybe she won't wear the boots. But she'll still be incredibly funny, original and awesome, and you won't be able to afford ice cream, but it won't matter because you'll be laughing too hard.

sylvadin A warm and wonderful woman, someone I can't wait to meet! She has such a talent for characterization. I love her writing. She combines the angst and the fluff, and she really conveys what her characters are feeling. She is a gem, so straightforward and nice. I love commiserating with her on merchant woes.

tamony_lenore Such a sweet and lovely person with such a warm and caring heart. She ponders about the universe, and gets frustrated with those who don't care. She's poetic and really wonderful.

tapedeck A blank page, a ballpoint pen, and tapedeck, and you'll be amused for hours.

tbranch Sweet, and so very nice. His art is immediately recognisable, full of bold lines and fabulous splashes of color. He draws a lot of Pansy, which is really wonderful. He's such a cutie.

themostepotente Slammin' babe of Shaolin Invincible force, she breaks down the door and hammers great fics into your head. She's edgy, extreme, and her journal is a dark miasma of yearning. Or maybe it's just a cool place to hang out. Your choice. Funny and sharp.

thetreacletart Relatively new to the list! She has some fun polls and seems to have a great sense of humor. Can't wait to read more.

todayiamadaisy She's always so intrigued with the little details in life...those strange things that happen that are inexplicable, ironic, and amusing. I love reading her updates.

trickofthedark Straightforward and smart. Also, draws pictures that have this remarkable vivacity that straddles sexy and sweet without succumbing to the dreaded cutesy. Her art is really fascinating, filled with unrepentedly strong women and interesting creatures.

vanityfair00 I feel a connection to her. She's interesting, sweet, and laidback. She has a breezy entry writing style and she's very engaging. I like her.

violet_quill The violet girl is so fun! Approachable and full of a true joie di vive. Violet was one of the first people I friended, and she's very sweet and writes a lot of really good stories.

virtual_gravy A very sweet and soulful person. He's so passionately committed to bettering himself and his art. An incredible photographer. Just incredible.

whitemunin She has wonderful entries about writing. Her LJ has a laidback tone, a warmly personal feeling, and I like reading her entries. She has wisdom and her LJ always feels like a comfy place to be, for some reason.

zakkati Funny, funky, and so full of moxie. She always has such sharp observations and such incredibly vivid entries. You really feel like you're hearing it firsthand. Her journal has this great exuberant quality to it. And she's so interesting! So many fascinating details are in her life. She's another one of those very original LJers, and she always has something interesting, written boldly. Her personality comes through loud and clear.

ziasudra Reserved and very nice. She's a continual stream of information, and her LJ is full of interesting, thought-provoking links. She's happy and a calm oasis and I'm glad I friended her.
