I see from aubrem that today is Defriending Amnesty Day.
If you aren't amused or interested in my ramblings anymore, please know that you can defriend on any day, obviously. Friending is "at-will", obviously.
I've never defriended, ever except reactively to an earlier defriending or my August 2005 pack of retards trolls/stalkers. I let wanky idiots who cry when they see expressed opinions do that for me, and save me the bother. I've better things to do than play high school/favourites/tantrums.
Amnesty day - so presumably if somone defriends me any other day I am legally entitled to hunt them down and kill them?
Y'know, for a long moment I just sat and thought, this is the silliest thing evah. And then I thought, but there are people with very deep wells of politeness who might really be antsy about defriending, and if I've saved them an ounce of "guilt", then I suppose it's worth it.
And there has been defriending, so obviously it was necessary. Crazy, huh?
I can understand Beta Appreciation Day as a special way to celebrate, although I think it's better to show appreciation in the everyday conversation with my beta as well. But Defriending Amnesty? Like 'Declaration of War Day' or 'Hit me on the Head Day'? Be careful to stay inside on those days! *shakes her head*
Hey, I thought it was a bit silly as well. But there are some shy people out there, or people who are very polite, who don't want to hurt other peoples' feelings, and who may have wanted to defriend for a long time but where embarrassed to do so. So why not give them the nudge they need? Might as well.
Same here. But I thought, what the heck. If there's anyone out there who is bored with me and, for one reason or the other, is a bit timid about hitting the defriend button, then this might help.
Wouldn't matter if they did. Some folks are just pissed of at everything and everyone all the time. That memo would have just been another excuse to post about how pissed off they were.
