My sister's friend is asking for help.
Apr. 4th, 2006 06:43 amShe is now really wondering about whether or not an obit has appeared in any of the local newspapers.
He said he lived in Austria near Carithie and Klagenfurt. His first name was supposedly Frank. I can ask her for the last name if you think it'll help.
If you can read the language, and you want to check it out for her, she'd really appreciate it.

Date: 2006-04-04 11:16 am (UTC)If you have a surname and maybe the exact City where he lived, and the exact date e went missing, I can check the internet. With just a first name, that won't work. I suppose there a few Franks dying every month in that general area. It's not an uncommon name.

Date: 2006-04-04 01:06 pm (UTC)I am from Austria and I live in Carinthia. I'm not from Klagenfurt though. I have just checked the web-edition of the biggest Carinthian paper which normally publishes the obituaries (if the family of the deceased chooses to publish it).
I'm sorry, but I found no Frank there in the last 2 weeks or so.
But maybe you could give me more data and I'll try to find out more.

Date: 2006-04-05 12:08 am (UTC)I mean, a mountain climbing accident would be in the paper somewhere, right? It isn't that common an occurrence, is it?

Date: 2006-04-05 06:20 am (UTC)I have gone through the print editions of the biggest Carinthian paper I hadn't recycled yet, which covers a week back. No mountain climbing accident has been mentioned in there.
But of course it isn't said that that the accident had occured in Carinthia.
The name would indicate that he was a Dutch, who was living in Carinthia. But why don't put a notice in the local papers? His friends/family here for sure would be interested in that.
But a Frank Van Der Rijst, originally from Utrecht, lives/d in Viktring, a small village near Klagenfurt. He is/was 40 years old, has/had 2 sons with his partner Claudia. It seems he is/had been working for Max.mobil, which is part of an international telecommunication company.
He was pretty active in various Austrian forums, last post I found is dated on the 28th March 2006.
