...someone independently e-mailed the guy, and he responded. So he's alive. Exactly as suspected.

Thanks to everyone who helped out. *hugs*

Doesn't surprise me either. It was just all too ... convenient. ex wives usually don't reply to personal emails and IMs... *shakes head* Clearly a case of trying to hide. :-( sucks when ppl get in too deep and then try to lie their way out of it istead of being honest

My sister was astonished that anyone would go through this, but some people just don't want to fess up that they find the person boring or that they're still married and were just having some fun. Scary!

Very scary! That lies and deceptions and thinking up this unlikely turn of events is easier to do than to say: Hey, I think meeting wouldn't be such a great idea...

*sigh* Teh Interwebs is a shitty place sometimes, and too many people think that they're anonymous and can't be traced and found.

I really think he's married still (which is what the webpage seems to suggest), and that he has two sons, just like the webpage shows. He didn't mention the BABY because then she would have known that he didn't really get a divorce in 2001, because the baby is under a year old.

I think it got to the point where he'd had some fun, and realized he was going to far, and that he couldn't back out of it easily without something happening.

Perfect icon, too. *nods*

The truth will always reveal itself eventually. Why people thing that they will be able to sustain lies in the long run is beyond me. Life is so much simpler when you just tell the truth. For one thing, there's less to remember. ;)

Yeah, that sounds good in theory, but I don't want to call any heat towards the girl who did the reveal. I don't want to expose her to any craziness just because she helped me out.

And she's the only proof we have that he's alive at the moment. Maybe if she waits a week, sees that there are no obits, etc., and lets him have it without implicating the independent friend...

I've been following this story, and sad as it is, this ending does not surprise me in the least. (Well, it would also be sad if he actually had died, but this is kind of a sad outcome for the victim.)

Geez, what a prick. Wonder who the "ex wife" was? And here's why one should always excercise caution with internet dating...

Yay!

But not "yay", actually... just good that the truth has been found out and she can at least deal with the pain now and move on. What an ass, though. He deserves some serious genital mutilation for that. How is faking your death less hurtful than saying up front that you're still married and all? It's much more painful and quite creepy, too.
