...that I just read a highly original, lovely piece of work by [livejournal.com profile] rinsbane called the Medicamentarius.

It's SS/KS, so if you don't like that pairing (or slash), don't click. The NC-17 portion is quite tame, only a paragraph, if that. An awesome fic, I enjoyed it thoroughly. It had unique applications of magic, thoughtful magical details, and great characterization, all of which I love to death. Check it out if you care for the pairing. It's in two parts, not very long, and quite rewarding.

Wasn't it? Wow. I'm still lingering there in my head.

A few missing punctuation marks do not deter from a wonderful and completely unexpected read. I'm so glad I clicked on it!

Thanks so much for such a lovely rec. It brought people my way, which makes me happy. *g* I wish there were more Snape/Kingsley fic out there to read, so anything I can do to add to the existing ones is my pleasure.

I adore KS/SS, and agree completely that there needs to be more of it. I was delighted when I drew that particular pairing for [livejournal.com profile] merry_smutmas, it made me jump for joy.

Your story was unusual, lyrical, and really delicious. I enjoyed it so much!

Hmm. I wonder if I've read your Smutmas fic. I'll have to look that up because I'm always up for more KS/SS fic.

I seem to be incapable of writing anything that's not lyrical, to use your word. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, because I enjoy writing in that style most of all. But I'm not sure that I could vary my style as much as I would like to, just in theory. If that makes sense. Anyway, I'm so glad you enjoyed my fic!

My smutmas entry was...well...smut. It's here (http://community.livejournal.com/merry_smutmas/84825.html), if you're interested.

I am so interested in reading what else you've written, but it will have to wait until I come back from Hawaii.

I wrote a rant once about how the HP fandom sometimes seems to forget that it's in a magical universe, and that we really need to write more fic peppered with unique little magical details, and I have to say, it was such a delight to read yours, with the imaginative stripping of the peacock plants...I adored it. :)

Thanks for the link. I'm looking forward to checking it out. Smut is good. ;-)

I'm so jealous of your upcoming trip to Hawaii. Wonderful place, but then I was there on vacation, which tends to make things better.

I agree with you about the magical elements. I adore reading fic that's full of them. They add an extra dimension to the fic, and as you say, one of the reasons many of us love HP to begin with is for the magic that infuses the novels. I rarely try to think such things up deliberately, but they sometimes come to me as I'm writing as things that just belong. In small ways, of course. Or at least I like to think so. Perhaps I flatter myself unduly. *g* Enjoy your trip.

I so agree. Have friended you. Must go to bed, have to get up early tomorrow, or I would so be babbling about magic and extra dimensions right now. ;)

Talk to you soon!

You've started a terrible trend. I'm now looking back through your recs tags and reading, reading, reading. I should be working...

Oh, how fantastic, someone is actually using the tags! Hooray!

I screwed up the recs tag, though, and need to fix it. I think there are one or two fics marked "fic recs" so I need to condense the tags into one.

Tags are wonderful. I've been meaning to go back and tag all my entries for a long time, but I'm lazy (and busy). Your are particularly useful because (so far) they've steered me toward the kind of good, complicated fanfic I like, and not a bit of the awful tripe that some other fans I know enthuse about...

ha! You should definitely steer clear of my "badfic" tag, then, unless you want a good laugh. ;)

Noted.

I just finished reading Soul Play by snapesforte and enjoyed it very much as well. I'm enthralled with both your versions of Snape --- they're quite different takes on the character and really show me how ambiguous a figure he still is. We have all this canon, but so little real insight. It's leading to some really interesting places.

SP is amazing. I read the first four chapters and was just astonished by how natural it seemed.

I'm saving the rest for a rainy day. It's just so good that I need to read it without distractions.
