Sky Captain
Sep. 17th, 2004 09:44 pmI only have a minute or two before I have to crack the whip and get back to work (big show this weekend, must get up at 5 am), but I just wanted to drop a mini-review about Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
Definitely a good movie! Think "Indiana Jones" but minus about a quarter of the charisma (due to the absence of Mr. Harrison Ford). Jude Law is just too icy to be the film's heart. Paltrow is very, very good.
And the Warden from the Mummy makes a surprise appearance.
Ebert gave it four stars. I wouldn't rank it that high for basic heart, but for cinematography and creating an alternate forties universe, it gets a four. The visuals are amazing. Too bad we don't get to see enough of the alternate history stuff. And I could have used more robots.
But it was a great experience in the movie theater. Have to say though, if I had the choice of rewatching Hero or Sky Captain in the theater, I would go for Hero. Definitely.
Many happies, and now back to work.
