valis2: Stone lion face (rose)
*sigh*

I see that many new friends in HPville were made while I was away. I added my little blurb, but I haven't got a lot of hope, as it's been a day or two and, seeing as there are so many pages of possible new friends, I don't think there will be.

Not that I don't enjoy the friends that I have now, of course! I love my flist.

Always nice to add new people, though.

I am almost done with Chapter 53!!!!!!!!! Another fifteen minutes and I think I'll be putting it up on ff.net, fa.org, sh. I can't wait! This is one of the longest chapters yet.

Ha-ha...I am ahead, [livejournal.com profile] junediamanti! I am winning! Er, sorry, got a little carried away. And I probably should mention that your chapters are ten times as long as mine are. ;)

I really need to start on the "Unbuttoning Snape" challenge fic. It is due by tomorrow. I haven't even written the first word.

Okay, off to undo a few buttons...

Hmmm.

I haven't had people over in ages.

I was thinking about possible party ideas, and one occurred to me...Retro Games Night.

I'll be home for three months (nearly), with only one trip, so this is a perfect time to have a little get-together. I have lots of obsolete game systems, complete with plenty of games. I have an Atari 2600, an Intellivision, an Odyssey 2, Pong, NES, SNES, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis (CD), Turbografx 16, along with Gamecube & PS2 (I may run out and get Xbox tomorrow with Fable). The Atari games are absolutely hysterical. You just have to see the Indiana Jones one to realize how misguided movie-to-video-game ports used to be.

Anyway, I thought...I'll pull the two TVs into the living room, set them up with all of these systems, and have all the games nearby, and we can just swap off systems all night long and drink.

Does this sound like fun, or does it sound idiotic?

I rarely recommend fics, but I have to say that I have fallen in love with a LotR WIP fic. It's called By the Light of Earendil's Star and it is written by Lady Branwyn.

It is a story about Boromir and Faramir. Here is her summary: "After an ambush in Ithilien, young Faramir has little hope of rescue from his captors or from his own despair. Unless help unlooked-for should arrive..." It is well-written, and is solid book!canon. It is well-plotted, which to me is very important. And, it is Hurt/Comfort, which is often my favorite genre of fanfic (grins sheepishly). The supporting characters are vivid. Very vivid! There is a bit of gore, but it isn't much, and shouldn't dissuade you from reading this gem. I am on pins and needles waiting for chapters. Honestly, I am surprised and delighted to find this on ff.net, and I will definitely be following it.
