valis2: Stone lion face (Hawaiianlion)
Christmas was very nice, the parents came down and spent time with me and my sister. We all had a lovely set of meals and a lovely time as well. Funniest moment?

We do this little ritual where each person reads their cards aloud one at a time. It's really a nice way to celebrate the sentiments and make certain that each card's thoughts get expressed.

My card from my parents started out like this:

Ever since you were little, you've had a special way of making days like Christmas more fun---and ordinary days more special, too. blah blah blah etc.

Of course, I embellished it a little, adding a few new endings to the first sentence, such as "making days...more like Bedlam", etc. We were all laughing. My father, of course, loses patience by the third (and final) iteration (he always does), and says, "Just read the card!"

I said, "Do you see how ironic it is that you give me a card that celebrates how I make things fun and then you get annoyed when I am doing exactly what you were praising in the card?"

My sister and I nearly hyperventilated, we were laughing so hard. I guess you had to be there.
