Weekend of change.
Sep. 3rd, 2006 09:36 amFirst, a random squee...Neil Gaiman is collaborating with Penn Jillette. They even met on the set of Babylon 5. I had no idea that Neil wrote an episode!
So I've been nearly entirely off the internet this weekend so far. Why?
Well, at one point my cable went out for a few hours. But the other reason is: change.
mortifyd has long spoken of Ikea, and since a new store opened here, I thought I'd check it out. Sure enough, I went with a friend and found a $99 desk that is perfect. But it required some change.
The few of you who have visited my apartment know that I have squeezed more furniture into it than should be humanly possible. There isn't a blank space on any wall, just about. Well, I did some more rearranging to fit this desk in, which required vacuuming (I abhor vacuuming, ugh) and moving lots of books. The upshot of this is that I have three stacks of books for eBay, two bags of clothing for Purple Heart, and a completely redone closet that is now partially filled with merchandise and packing materials. And a lovely desk.
Yes, the desk is...an eBay desk. My tape gun, boxes, items for sale...everything is on it now. I am so happy! No more eBay crap all over the living room. No more having to run back into the office over and over again because I've forgotten an address or a printout...now I just jump across the room. No more sitting on the floor to assemble boxes and write on them. I have a desk! (Furniture now in the office: TV stand, two 9 hole cubicles stacked together, a couch, two coffee tables, big metal rack for crafting supplies, three desks (computer, crafting, eBay) and chairs, a DVD rack, and a stack of cushions.)
I've accomplished a lot, and I'm quite happy. I still have some things left to find places for, but on the whole it's looking great so far.
Off to Renfest!
