From the cold-calling coffee table of valis

You would think that I would have everything scheduled already. But no. I still have gaping weeks in my Sales Trip of Doom. The worry is starting to set in, and I only have a week left to pull everything together. My only hope is that I will be able to keep all of my other expenses as low-low-low as possible (and an enormous THANK YOU to all who have volunteered to take me in during the trip, you have NO IDEA how much it helps me and how fervently I adore you all), and that somehow Fate will smile upon me and make my inventory look smashing. But it's a bad time for this. I'm sensing it already.

You would think that I would have a phone grafted to my ear at this point. Actually, because I could quite possibly be calling on behalf of THREE different businesses, I have moments where I forget which business it is. I also forget who I'm calling, but thankfully I've managed to get it together each time.

You would think that I would be immune, at this point, to people hanging up on me. But I'm not. I researched a few stores in one area in CA, and narrowed it down to the store with the best website and the best product line, and called today, at a decent time (CA-wise), and was hung up on before I could even say why I was calling. Look, I don't mind if it's not your cup of tea; I've had enough rejections on the phone to fill up an entire calling card. But at least find out why I'm calling, so I don't sit here, completely freaking out, wondering if you hates us, precious, because of our nameses, or if you thought I was selling hippos and you have one already.

Y'know, I'd jump all over that if I had any idea where my little collection was... I know it's in our storage unit somewhere, but have no idea. And I have no place to display said collection right now, anyway, so I guess it's a moot point. But I still think they're cute when rendered in small-scale fashion.

Is this something for which I should go check out your eBay store? (yeah, like I've got the time to be loitering there - or, for that matter, here - what with tax season upon us)

by the way, I very much appreciated the difference of emo vs. goth provided in your lj the other day. I have asked my teen that question a gazillion times and had yet to get a satisfactory (to me, anyway) answer.
