Double blergh.
Mar. 17th, 2007 06:49 pmAm sick again, out of nowhere, with ANOTHER sinus infection. I have a seriously exhausting local show to do tomorrow.
So Monday, if I'm not better, I'm going to the doctor. He'll be thinking, WTF? I don't even know if he can do anything for me. I've had two rounds of antibiotics already, just this year.
And I'm leaving on Wednesday for the Big Trip. Am very worried. wah.

Date: 2007-03-18 02:07 am (UTC)At most good health food stores you can buy Olbas oil. This is a very strong aromatic, place several drops on a two small pieces of tissue. Place one in each nostril, breath in deeply, remove after 10-30 seconds, repeat as needed.
Once your sinus infection is resolved, find a health food store and ask if there is anyone who candles ears. I had mine done almost 10 years ago and have been sinus infection free until last month. I was skeptical of the benefits, but my niece had had it done and was quite happy with the results. I'm a registered nurse and rather conservative when it comes to my health. It doesn't hurt, and I could feel the junk draining from my sinuses. I paid $40 at that time, it is probably more now, but the money I saved from not needing antibiotics and over the counter remedies is probably over $1,000, plus the comfort and reduced sick days. Try and find an experienced practitioner, make sure that they use a foil plate to protect around your ear as it is done.
Now if I could only find a similar remedy for my migraines. I had another bad day with them today- just enough to make it impossible to read or write despite good intentions.

I didn't watch it due to dial up, but the first image appeared to be the same as what happened to me. My procedure took about 1 hour for both ears- they used one candle for each, I had it done in 1998 and have been free of sinus infections until last month. There are risks, just like anything else, but overall it is a safe procedure. Don't have it done until your infection is over.

Date: 2007-03-18 02:13 am (UTC)I used to suffer a lot from sinus infections, especially when I dated a guy who lived with eight birds...they've tapered off until recently. I have a feeling that I'm a bit stressed right now, and that's not helping.
Thanks so much for the advice!

Date: 2007-03-18 02:23 am (UTC)So was I - but the proof is in the pudding, I had no sinus infections between 1998 and this year. I used to get two or three a year that needed antibiotics before then. I'll be getting mine done again next month. My niece had horrible ear problems- she was essentially deaf when she was 10 due to ear fluid issues- had tubes put in her ears, tons of junk came out. Then when she was 17 - she looked into the candling thing, had it done and was very happy, she had continued to have congestion and hearing problems for years after her ears were treated in the "accepted medical" methods. Now she has no problems. Some of the sites call for 2-3 candles per ear and getting it done frequently- I disagree with that- once in 10 years, with one candle per ear is good for me. As I said- I could feel the junk coming out of my sinuses below and above my eyes. Amazing.

My boss swears by it. Feels weird, but cleans out the sinuses.

Date: 2007-03-18 11:10 am (UTC)Have you ever looked into seriously where it comes from? Stress? Wrong climate? Something psychosomatic maybe? I knowI sound esoteric but fi things re-appear after proper treatment, maybe there is something your body wants to tell you?
I hope the doctor can help you with the immediate symptoms. Go to bed and try to heal. *hugs*
