Title: A Taste of Honey
Rating: PG-13
Characters: RL/SS
Summary: Remus has chosen Severus, and must live with the consequences. Told from Remus's POV.
Warnings: Poetry (set of haikus), angst, slash, but nothing graphic.
Note: Yeah, I'm still out on the road, but this popped into my head this morning, and I had to get it down. I thought I'd share. Just keep in mind that I might not get to respond to comments quickly.

My love, black-winged and
cruel, molten-tongued, razor-lipped,
stark, incandescent.

I have only me
to blame for this strange story,
that is the worst shame.

Others wonder why
I cleave to your rough angles,
why I do not smooth

your tongue’s acidic
burn. I have no answer for
them, or even me.

You, maddening spark
under my skin, scalding my
heart, you, I love you.

No one believes me
at first. It takes convincing.
I don’t laugh or cringe.

Even you, in your
starkest moment of passion,
there is a question

in your eyes, a look
that holds poisonous slivers
of doubt and mistrust.

I am almost used
to your venom, it feels like
rain, shivering drops.

Your kisses are not
chaste, they taste of murder and
grudges, of dirt, snakes.

Your hands on me, they
promise retribution, pain,
if I forsake you.

You can’t understand
what I feel for you, you will
never understand.

I have claimed you for
always, until death pries us
apart, until your

bitter, bitter tongue
is like the sweetest crust of
honey, dark as rum.

Wow, that was really a glorious use of snape-descriptive words. "rough angles" was my favorite.

"in your eyes, a look
that holds poisonous slivers
of doubt and mistrust."

That line is just lovely and true.

Yes, your words here are so apt and full of imagery! I love the use of texture imagery in particular, as it brings to mind so many things.

Yay for poetry!

I hope you took pictures! That is #1 on my Aquarium Wish list. I've never been and heard it's amazing! Someday I will snuggle those critters, too.

I took some horrible pics, but [livejournal.com profile] blumsmile took fantastic pics and I hope to snitch them from her before I get out the door. :)

Each new one I say to myself "No, THIS is my favorite!" but then I remind myself, that I don't have to have only one on the train with me and sacrifice the other to the nazis (sorry, bad Sophie's Choice reference) but get to keep them all in my heart!!

Remus! Oh, he just GETS me right *taps heart* HERE! As do you with your portrayal!

Great job!

*laughs and laughs* That's awesome! I don't think anyone has ever commented that to me before, and it warms the cockles of my heart. *hugs*

Thank you so much! It's so awesome that you're doing this--I keep squeeing with each new comment. :)

Oh, and to be honest, this pair of haikus (http://valis2.livejournal.com/321382.html) is my fave--

and this pair of ficlets (http://valis2.livejournal.com/206146.html) is probably my fave Snupin thing I've ever written.
