I went to the grocery store...did that whole "U Scan It Yourself so that We Can Save Money on Cashiers by Using Your Time as our Labor" thing.

I bought lactose-free milk, ground sirloin, a sirloin steak, gyoza, and chai.

I received an automatic coupon for Whiskas cat food.

While certainly I understand that cats do consume milk and sirloin, and probably wouldn't turn their noses up at gyoza, I fail to comprehend how purchasing these items together would alert the Powers That Dispense Coupons to dispense money-saving missives for feline products.

I think they just kind of have a coupon of the week type thing and dont take into account what a person buys..

Usually the automatic coupons have something to do with what you purchase. Whenever I buy soymilk, they usually pop out a coupon for the opposite brand, for example. I've never had one pop out that didn't have some correlation to the groceries I was buying on that trip. Odd, huh?

Mmm...ground sirloin (er, hamburger) makes the best spaghetti sauce...yum.

I tried to post this reply earlier, but for some reason I kept getting an error message! Luckily I saved it on the 'copy' function!

We haven't got this advanced technology where I live yet (France), lol! The whole 'scan as you go' thing seems to be quite popular in the UK though - my stepmum swears by it, although my mum I don't think bothers with it at all. We *do* get the coupons though - usually related to what we've bought, but the most expensive brand name available of course! Since we tend to go for the cheapo brands on a lot of types of food, we hardly ever bother to use the coupons as they wouldn't save us any money. They had a great offer recently though - 10 euros off every 50 spent on toys and games! That came in useful with the Christmas toy shopping!

Some of the grocery stores here have cards now instead of coupons. You have to have the card to get the sale price.

Newest promotion? If you spend a certain amount there in between a certain date range, you'll save 10% on one purchase in the future. I don't know if they send you the coupon in the mail or what, but I have qualified now and will be interested in seeing how they handle it...

Ok, I worked out how to delete the double!! Sorry, I will now stop wreaking havoc in your journal!

A question to ponder...

Is it better to wreak havoc or run amok?

Wreaking havoc is less taxing.
