I'll update about Grandma in a separate entry.

So the show in Ohio wasn't that great, except I did get to visit Jungle Jim's. Even Neil Gaiman knows about Jungle Jim's, I've found out. Jim's is an awesome place---it's a huge grocery store.

I do feel stupid, though, because last time I thought I saw it all, and I actually only saw 1/3 of the store--ha! Anyway, I've visited the rest, and found their international grocery section to be pretty fascinating. Five aisles of Asian foods, separated into Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, etc. Their Eastern European section was rather strange, containing only Germany, Poland, and Bulgaria. Maybe I missed the rest, methinks.

I was hoping to find Tim Tams, based on [livejournal.com profile] mortifyd's description of said treat, but no such luck. I did get my favorite Vosges candy bar and some strange fruit drinks, along with Australian honey, so I didn't leave empty-handed.

The show was bad partly due to my own mismanagement, I must admit. In the future I will have to remember what I've learned. Anyway, I'm home for two months now, unbroken, and I'm pretty excited. I see that plenty of wank has surfaced in my absence, as always, hee!

It's good to be back. I feel like I need the time to slow down and just enjoy myself, lol.

You know, I'm apparently the only person in Australia who hates Tim Tams. They're vile things. IMHO, you'd be better off looking for chocolate teddy bears. :-)

I <3 Jungle Jim's! Did you see the elvis bear sing? Or the fish tank? I haven't been in awhile though, not since they've added the new facade.

I'm really surprised they didn't have Tim Tams, that's where I usually get mine. They might have been out of stock.

haha! No Elvis bear, I'm afraid. But a giant Campbell's soup can on a swing shouted, "Hello, down there!" when I walked past.

They were going through an inventory at the time--some of the Australia section shelves were pretty empty. That might have been why.

*hrm-hrm* (gives a little Umbridge cough) "Germany" is not exactly "Eastern Europe" *sighs* Americans! We are not "near Africa" either...

I'd love to see that store. The Asian aisles sound worth it already. I bet you missed Central Europe with France and Italy and Spain, with all the good wines and cheeses and pasta.... :-)

I'm still scratching my head over how they sectioned the countries.
