More musings on productivity

Y'know, I'm starting to think that the key to my productivity and my happiness while working at home is to actually get things done. Simple, but sometimes things are. When I actually have accomplished something, I feel great, and then whatever I do next, even if it's major goofing off, is no worry at all.
Website Friend is working on my website this weekend. There are Things Which Must Be Done in order for me to accept credit cards online. Since I already accept cc in RL, this is not as big a chore as it could have been, but it's still a chore. The sales guy for the association from which I receive my processing is supposed to call me to set it up, but first I have to get a few things done, such as SSL.
Now, I know that this seems hasty--after all, I don't have a single product on the website yet, and I'll be paying a monthly processing fee. However, there are some people who refuse to use Paypal (some people estimate it as high as 25% of eBayers), and having my website set up to take cc payments means that I can siphon them there if they wish to pay me directly by cc. A good thing.
I've also spent time working on a template for my auctions. I've been successful at modifying a free template from a website, except that the pics won't show up. Pics of one type of merch will; pics of the clothing? Not so much.
Also, I nearly smote eBay with my Lion of Smiting, because when I signed up for my ID, it said the ID was available, and then when I hit "submit," there was a problem with one field, and when I went to resubmit it, my ID was suddenly "taken." Damn you, eBay. What a stupid bug to have.
Let's not even get me started on Paypal, which wouldn't let me have a second account using the same business checking account. I mean, the whole point of this is to keep the clothing people away from my main eBay account. I don't want any sort of issues impinging on my regular business, y'know? I've heard some horror stories. This clothing thing is just meant to clear out a bunch of clothing from my friend.
Still, I have accomplished more than expected, which is cause for celebration. I'm off to IL--I will be at a one-day show tomorrow, and then to WI on Monday, and then home on Tuesday, so I won't be gone long, which also makes me very happy. It's a beautiful day for a drive. I'm actually looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll have time to write more product descriptions while I'm at the show. See you soon, flist!

Date: 2008-03-29 09:25 pm (UTC)I'm anxious to see your site once it's up! And I'd love a linky to your ebay auctions.
I stayed up until 2:30am last night working on my Desmond fic. Yay! I've about 13 pages into it or so. And it's actually fun to write it! I haven't had this much fun in a very long time. I keep slipping cameos of my friends in there (with their real names). I'm so going to insert you in there somewhere. Okie dokie? I'm trying to see how many I can get away with. ~g~
God, what a day. I have't even checked
Now I'm rambling. Off to fry some shrimp for the Coconut!

Date: 2008-04-01 09:55 pm (UTC)hahah! Yeah, that reaction is pretty common, so that's why I'm going through this painful process. I can't wait to finally have it up and running.
I'll send you a link to my site/eBay auctions.
Hope you guys enjoyed the shrimp! *hugs*

Date: 2008-04-01 10:10 pm (UTC)Oh, posted Chapter One - The Voyeur & Chapter Two - Journey Into Night of Sanctuary (Desmond/OFC smut!fic) on my journal and at Digital Quill. This isn't the fic you read with Abby (blind girl) - this is an all new Desmond-and-Kit-sex-it-up-in-their-spare-time fic. OMG, yay! LOL. Someone already iconned one of my Desmond lines in the fic. No one has ever done that before! No fan art, no icons - but now I have my very own Sanctuary icon. You'll have to read the chappy to see what he's on about but here's the icon made by
Oh, I made a new Ian-as-Jesus icon today because he's so fucking hot in this pic.
Full pic. I totally came in my panties when I saw this for the first time:
Ok, enough fangirling. I've hijacked your journal long enough. I'm just excited! Can ya tell? LOL. I've had way too much sugar today. ;P I haven't gotten to peek at my flist in a few days due to writing (which I should be doing right now. I left Desmond and Kit standing in the middle of a tent. He just commanded her to unbraid her hair. Yay!) But it feels lovely to be writing and actually enjoying it!
♥ you!!!

Date: 2008-03-29 11:31 pm (UTC)Its dumb, my cart has the ability to get the info securely, I just love the ease of PP, even though I know some people dislike it.
have a good trip and good shows, my friend!

Date: 2008-04-01 09:59 pm (UTC)And the cc process has been hampered by some email snafus, but now it's back on track (or at least it will be tonight).
Paypal really has a staunch set of haters. There are some people who just abhor PP, and I'm hoping that this will attract a few new buyers who avoided me before because of the PP stuff.
*huggles* Thanks!!
