Good news = taxes, surprisingly enough

In the last four out of five years, I've owed a bundle at tax time. Imagine owing 15% of your yearly income on April 15th, and imagine that you haven't been able to save up 15% of your yearly income and so then you have to pay it in an installment plan which makes it very difficult to pay the next 15%, and the cycle repeats itself.
Well, the good news is that I spent a lot of money last year (long trip o' doom helped) and, as a consequence, I don't owe taxes this year. I won't have to pay--or I might even get a tiny, tiny refund.
I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. I mean, I was kind of predicting it, but still, I am overwhelmingly relieved. I want to buy a house at the end of the year, and this is one of the better pieces of news.
*does the tax dance of joy (a very rare dance, let me tell you!)*

Date: 2008-04-03 12:13 pm (UTC)I used to work in a public accounting firm and I loved telling people who were expecting to pay tax that they might get a small refund. One guy got something like $1.36 back and he was so happy.

Date: 2008-04-03 01:28 pm (UTC)I'm supposed to get back a nice little chunk of change. Woot!!! Which is a crapload of cash for me...because I'm basically poor. I wouldn't get this at all if it weren't for the Coconut. I mean, you should have a kid or two - enormous tax break! ~g~
Last year, I didn't even make enough money to file taxes. We lived with my dad the majority of that year anyway, so my dad claimed both the Coconut and me. So this year, it's all good. I barely made enough to file - and all of that money is going to yearly car insurance and my trip to Portus (you really should go to that. Most of us going in our group - which consists of me,

I just can't deal with that right now--I have too many other things going on, and I had to choose only one con. *sniffle*
Haven't gotten to your smut!fic yet--but I will! Definitely! I'm still catching up. *huggles*

Celebration time! :D
