on [livejournal.com profile] violet_quill's LJ. One was for her first line drabble challenge; the other was for her recent HP dice challenge, where she would roll dice and give you two names and a location.

They're somewhat dark, be warned. I only spent about 15 minutes on each, so they are just quickies, but I can never remember where they are, so I went searching for them tonight so I could get them in one place.

First line drabble challenge, from violet's first line He doesn't understand why they look so happy.

----------
He doesn't understand why they look so happy. His eye has a way of sliding around and through to find the hidden rot, and he can't bear to see this optimistic cheer, when it is obvious that it will not last. Useless to think that they've really found a way to defeat the Dark Lord. Ridiculous to think that they've discovered the impossible. His thin fingers grip the Veritaserum in his pocket and the edges of the flask bite painfully. There is no way out of the coming nightmare. He can see into Potter, see the darkness growing, see the Dark Lord winding his coils, and he knows that the end is nigh.
----------

And the HP dice roll I received was Hagrid/Harry, Astronomy Tower. Which, as anyone who reads regularly will know, are two characters I don't read, and don't really care much about in fanon.

----------
The wind rushes, cold and biting, and Harry shivers. He remembers last year's exam, watching in shock as red light blossomed and Hagrid was taken.

Hagrid remembers watching from his hut as Norbert was taken from him.

They stand close to each other, and Harry is grateful for the warmth of his companion. Dawn is still far off. He wishes that it would end, just end.

Hagrid wishes for a brandy to take the edge off, to burn in his mouth and make him forget.

"Which direction do you think they'll attack from?" asks Harry quietly.

Yeah, I am not a fan of Hagrid/Harry, and I groaned when I read the pairing and tried to make the best of it. After all, a ship wasn't tacitly required, so I just did a little scenario instead.

I was so much more into writing the Snape, and it shows. Thanks for the comment!
