Cape cod vacation pics, part four
Aug. 25th, 2008 08:22 pmThe funny pics! At last!
No more pics tonight, I promise. I still have eight million cemetery pics, but I'll do those over the weekend.
This is for
dacro, who is the only person I know who uses the word "Dude!" more than I do:

According to the placard:
Dude figures are caricatures of slightly disreputable urban men that were popular as tobacco figures in many parts of the country. AsDacro a carver explained in 1886, "Dudes had quite a go for a while. I have got fully twenty-five dudes planted around Brooklyn and New York now, though dudes are on the wane..." This example stood in front of a tobacco shop in Emporia, Kansas for many years, extolling the virtues of Battle Ax Plug Tobacco. The added reminder painted on the base says, "Remember the Name When You Buy Again."
Now we know where Gilderoy went after he was released from St Mungo's.

I'm still bummed that I didn't see the pride parade in Provincetown. Here is one building, all dolled up for the parade:

Good to see that John Wayne and Clint Eastwood are joining in on the fun. And yes, the sign in front of the covered wagon says, "Save a horse, ride a cowboy."
Pretty herb garden.

Make that pretty tasty herb garden.

There was a lot of graffiti on Scargo Tower. Apparently the author of this particular inscription is quite worried about the coming garden implement craze and wants his friends to know that he won't forsake them.

What? You actually got this far? Here, a bonus...Valismort sailing the seven seas.
