Lovely to be back from the weekend.

I had a good time with the parental units, enjoyed the show, and did a teensy bit of shopping...ran into a vendor I've met before who makes lovely tiles, and purchased two tiles to match the one I have. Yay!

My mom read my fanfic...we discussed Snape quite a bit...talked about the story plot...she had some thoughts, and also had compliments for me, which made me happy.

My weekend, involving small towns, parades, and near-useless signs. My parents moved from the teeming suburbs up to a tiny town last year, and at first I missed them a great deal. When my dad retired I sometimes would join him for lunch or the occasional shopping trip, and I was sad that we wouldn't have that time together. But they really wanted to move four hours away, so they did.

My mom asked me to be part of the craft show portion of their little town festival, and, as it was only $15 and I would be able to visit all weekend, I decided to set up my booth there. (Plus I'd be able to stop by a couple galleries and see about making more gallery sales.) So I went up there on Friday. The show is first come, first serve, which I'd never seen before, so basically you have to set up as soon as you can or you'll get an awful spot. Fortunately my mom saved a good spot and I set up there.

This is a town of five hundred people, and everyone knows each other. It was interesting to note how sincerely they seem to have embraced my parents. Already they know just about everyone in town.

So the parade. Let me just say that it was rather adorable. Apparently people just decide that if it is available to be driven, it can be in the parade. There were floats and marching bands and fire engines, but there was also: a) a dump truck, b) a pickup truck hauling a trailer with a steam shovel on it, c) a bobtail (semi without trailer), and, most mystifying, d) a pickup with people sitting in the bed waving. It was as if they went to every door and said, would you like to be in the parade? What do you drive? Oh, that would be lovely.

We drove around a lot, on two lane roads with no posted speed limits and eventually visited several other small towns. At one street corner there was a piece of neon yellow paper that was posted underneath the signpost.

It said, simply, "Found: Orange/White Cat".

Yes. That is all it said.

Where was the cat found? When was the cat found? If this is my cat, how do I contact you? Etc.

Nothing.

All in all, it was a fun weekend, and I spent lots of time talking to my parents, and I am happy for them. They have found a community they like, and people their age to talk to, and they are very happy there.

I am really, really tired. Won't bother to write tonight; I am going to bed very, very soon. I was very happy to come home to 17 reviews to my latest chapter. Yay! They didn't forget me.

I have a new friend for you to meet, Michelle, aka [livejournal.com profile] ms_hecubus. It struck me today that I think you two would get along grandly, and you should give her the link to your Snape fanfic! :D She's added you and I give her my hearty recommendation. :)
