More Husband
Oct. 9th, 2008 10:31 amYou might remember this entry where I talked about my noun substitution issues.
Last night we had this conversation:
Husband (looking at set of Riptide DVDs): Is this the show with the helicopter with the mouth painted on it?
Valis: Yep!
Husband: I can't remember the guys, though. Hmmm. Rick & AJ?
Valis: No, that's Simon & Simon.
Husband: Ah.
Valis: Aren't you impressed that I remembered that so quickly?
Husband: Well, it was a little easier for you than it would have been for me, because I didn't say Shnarf & Shna Shna.
Valis: *doubles over laughing*
Husband: Sometimes talking to you is like being in the middle of a James Joyce novel.

Date: 2008-10-09 03:24 pm (UTC)I can't wait, though. I'll be watching a lot of series stuff--I've been getting them as prezzies for birthday/Christmas, so I have all five seasons of Miami Vice, the entire set of Monty Python, all of the Ghost Hunters episodes, and now Riptide. I am pretty geeked--I'll watch them while I craft.

Date: 2008-10-09 03:30 pm (UTC)Yeah, I have all five seasons. When I was in high school, I loved watching Airwolf, and then I discovered Miami Vice, and I was totally in seventh heaven. Seriously. I liked Hardcastle & McCormick, and Simon & Simon, but MV was the ultimate show for me. I had to be home to watch it.
In fact, I remember watching a few episodes of Riptide, but later, when USA began repeating MV and Riptide back-to-back, that's when I really got into Riptide. Still, everything was always secondary to MV. That was my biggest obsession at that time.
I've watched an episode or two of MV in the last few years, and I'm amazed at how well the series holds up. Seriously. It's still really good. I can't wait to rewatch it all.

*coughcoughcough*.

Date: 2008-10-09 03:47 pm (UTC)I really loved a lot of the characters--I remember watching every episode, especially the second and third seasons. Of course, Don was the big draw for me, so I wasn't quite as sad when it became the Big Hair Hour...hee!
And damnit, now there's another fic comm to watch...hee!! Thanks for the link. You rock!
