valis2Tonight's meal is complicated by the fact that:
a) I forgot to go grocery shopping yesterday. Completely forgot. I have no idea how this occurred, except for the biggest, most obvious reason: I forgot to make a list of what I needed to do. However, Husband assured me that Kroger would be open. I didn't think it was open on Christmas Day, but he was so absolutely certain that I just rolled with it.
b) Kroger is not open on Christmas Day. Nor is Target. Or Meijer. Or the little grocery store down the block from our old apartment building. I now remember that this happened last year, too; we'd forgotten some key ingredient, and he assured me that Kroger was open, only to find out that they weren't. In some ways my life is like the movie Groundhog Day. Seriously.
Step two: Panic.
Thank goodness my sister has leftover salad. I'm going to call my parents and ask them to bring said salad, and some other stuff. Because all we have is a half bag of carrots and some green beans.
Thank even more goodness that my father-in-law had already announced he was bringing turkey. Turns out he's bring a roast turkey, stuffing, and gravy.
This thing might work out after all.
Now off to stick felt pads on all of my furniture and move it into the living room...
