Arizona sunbeams Arizona sunbeams

Patch of sunlight at the end of the day. Taken from a moving vehicle, please excuse the blur.
View of the Road View of the Road

The road, as seen for six days. Yes, that giant stack of paper is a printout of tLS. I am that much of a geek.
Mountaintop Mountaintop

A picture that turned out better than I thought it would. I love the sky.
View View

I had to crop it a bit because it had the freeway at the bottom, but I do like the way it turned out.
Rocks Rocks

Yep. Rocks. With a tree growing in them.
Rocks, yep. Rocks, yep.

More rocks.
Mountaintop, again. Mountaintop, again.

The tops were swallowed by clouds. Love that look.
Yucca Yucca

Yucca at a rest stop. The wind was literally shoving me across the parking lot. I was very glad that it turned out as well as it did. A trucker gave me a funny look.

The mountains are quite striking, really, and some of the rocky scenery is rather interesting.

I like rocks. At one point when I was growing up, I wanted to be a geologist.

Lovely scenery! It's just so different from where I live! My dad once did a five-week tour in the States and went through Arizona - said it was fantastic. And my husband is very keen on going over for a holiday. Ah well, maybe in ten years or so...

After nine years it isn't as impressive as it once was, but it is still interesting. I enjoy seeing the scenery. This year there was more rain than I've ever seen there.

Aw, you're so sweet! Thanks, I have fun taking them. I'll have to look through my pics and see if there is anything else I can scan in that looks interesting.

Welcome back! Your pictures are almost enough to give me the urge to travel; I rode across AZ in a moving van once (an horrifyingly long time ago), and had forgotten how pretty parts of it were.

It can be very pretty, and quite boring too. Y'know, some of these pics might actually be of New Mexico, now that I think about it.

Very pretty pictures. I really should visit the US some time.

You can always crash with me, but I warn you, Detroit is not really known for its picturesque views, though other portions of Michigan are.

Thank you! They were taken very quickly, and the light wasn't advantageous for almost any of them, but I wanted to come back with at least a few shots.

Such an amazing place, Arizona. It is no wonder the space Aliens love it so much.

Hee! Yeah, this is one of the first years we didn't drive through Roswell, and I missed the green Alien orb streetlights. ;)

I almost went to Roswell on this trip. I ended up not going because I have a meeting on Tuesday and need to get settled a bit before hand so I decided to save it for later. I sat at the fork in the road on hwy 70 and debated, then decided that catch it next time around. Besides, I would rather hit it with a visiting friend from Australia.
Soon I hope... Soon.

I've been to Arizona twice recently. The air smelled as if it were on fire, IMHO.

Did you see the sand dunes in Yuma? Unreal! As I was driving through there I felt the urge to drink as much water as possible.

Now, those rocks in the 4th, 5th, and 6th pictures were reminiscent of some sort of alien landscape. The desert is a bit alien to a girl from Tennessee. :P

Didn't drive through Yuma...but it does sound pretty dry! :)

Yes, the desert is a strange place to a girl from Michigan as well. I like water and trees and swamp.
