2. Riptide (of course): I saw this show in the eighties, and I was moderately into it. Then I started watching the reruns on USA in the late eighties, and I really got into it, but then I forgot about it almost entirely. I mean, I would list it as one of the eighties shows I used to watch, like A*Team and Miami Vice, but I only remembered that there was a boat in it. Seriously. Then I discovered

3. Nick/Cody: Yum. Nick: looks and acts like the typical bruiser, but has a heart of gold. Cares so much about his friends--especially Cody. He'll do anything for Cody. He's a guy who is unafraid to get dirty, who can take something apart and put it back together and make it work even better, who values hard work and a cold beer. He's got emotions, too, and he's unafraid to show them to his nearest and dearest, and his sorrow and anger are like a quick thunderstorm that melts away when it's done. Cody? is a bit smoother, wears a mask sometimes, but he's a good guy with a good heart. He's got a gorgeous voice, he takes pride in what he owns, and even though sometimes he's not all that quick-witted, he does have a way of talking himself out of situations. He's apt to hide his fear and anger, and go off by himself to try to get it under control. Unless someone does bodily harm to HIS BOAT or someone he cares about. Or unless he's really excited about something, in which case he'll pile on the exclamation points.
Together they're an interesting pair; Nick, who is unafraid to give Cody what he needs and let him know that he needs him just as much, and Cody, who tries hard not to appear needy but needs him (possibly) more. They've lived in each other's pockets for so long that they know nearly every thought in each other's head; they can read each other like a book, they have their own language of hand signals and looks.
My favorite N/C interpretation in a fic is Nick being taken down somehow, being vulnerable, and unable to take care of Cody and protect him. And Cody has to put on the competent pants (lol, oddmonster's phrase, which rocks) and take care of things, despite being jittery and worried and freaked out that his rock is not being very rock-like at the moment.
4. Your new house: Um. I am still getting used to not hearing sirens, alarm clocks in other apartments, garbage trucks emptying dumpsters, people screaming or shouting, people having relations, loud thumping musical noise, car alarms, people making their cars beep at one o'clock in the morning, people slamming car doors, people talking loudly on the sidewalk at one o'clock in the morning, people slamming apartment doors, and dogs barking barking barking all the time. I am not used to the fact that there's no one above us. I am not used to the fact that I have a garage to park in now. I am not prepared for the landscaping, mowing, and drudgery of outside maintenance.
I am, however, delighted by stashing things in the basement. I don't think that will ever get old.
5. Lions!: I think this says it all.
