I just wrote 3400 words in the past four hours and finished the story and wow. (8400 words total, so far, which will change in the revising, but whew.)

*blinks*

Clearly, writing it in my head over and over again paid off. Okay, fine, I'm not totally finished, I still need to polish it, but wow.

Now I just need to polish it, force poor Husband to read it again for the fifteenth time, and bam. Done.

Y'know, in the HP fandom, I'd time posting it so it wouldn't get posted on the weekend (nobody online), but it occurs to me that it might not matter in the Riptide fandom...I mean, there's so little fic that it's not like people get overwhelmed and skip stuff or accidentally miss stuff. I mean, it's just one comm. *ponders posting early*

I cannot believe that G reads your fanfic. Amazing. Oh, and congrats on finishing. Is it worth me reading it if I have no idea what Riptide is?

The only fanfic he'd rather not read--but he will if I ask him to, lol--is the really explicit stuff.

This story is pretty tame--not slash--and I'm actually going to post it to my journal, which I haven't with the others. It's a little violent--deals with Vietnam--and I'll have a link at the beginning that leads to a brief introduction to the Riptide show, just in case people want to read the story but want to know what the boys look like.

*huggles* I can't say you'll enjoy it--it's not that kind of story, in a way--but hopefully you'll read it and let me know what you think.

Go you! Isn't it so, so satisfying when the words come so easily like that? :)

Dude, it rocks, as you know! I'm still over the moon.

Am rereading it right now. I'm really into it. Vanity, thy name is Valis. lol!

hee!!! I'm so glad that you're excited! But of course, that also increases the panic--if you don't like it I'll be so sad! :(

gah. I can't wait for Husband to come home. I'm going to park him in front of the computer immediately. lol!

Now, now. You know that I'm going to *love* it.

You're so lucky that your honey reads your fic! Mine has not read any of it. He's read *some* of my original stories, though.

Husband is so sweet. He likes my writing, believe it or not! And I am so lucky that he's an English major like me--he does offer good advice. So he's kind of a beta reader, in a way, though it's usually for the big stuff. Like whether or not a scene "works" and what his reaction is.

I am SO excited for him to read this. I mean, seriously, the part I wrote today is the whole reason for the fic, the entire heart of it, and I hope he likes it as much as I did. I hope he tells me it "works" and then I'll probably run around the house like a crazy person. lol.

See? What you said in an earlier reply today about not having your stories beta'd is untrue -- you DO have a beta, and you're *married* to him!

Just like Stephen King :: pointy fingers at icon :: -- his wife reads *everything* he writes. He mentioned in a recent article that he laughs when his fans tell him "I've read EVERYTHING you've ever written." "Nope," he tells them, "that would be me and Tabitha."

hee!! Well, he's not as much into correcting individual sentences, but he does give me some overviews about things.

He hasn't read the other Riptide stories, though, or maybe just the first one. I try not to make him too crazy...lol!

Tabitha's a writer, too, so that's really cool--how neat that they have each other!

Yeah, she sure is! But I've never enjoyed her books as much as Stephen's. I had high hopes for her most recent book -- "Candles Burning", but I couldn't get through it. Maybe I'll try it again someday.

Now that I'm thinking of it, I'll have to be sure and ask dear [livejournal.com profile] oddmonster if she has read that book. In retrospect, it reminds me of some of Poppy Z Brite's books.

Mr. Valis is your beta reader? I must tell Lord Branwyn because I force ask him to read much of my fic.

hahah! Husband is...kind of my beta reader. He isn't going to go line by line and point stuff out, but he's enthusiastic about what he likes and he mentions what derailed him, and often that's just what I need. ;)

*hugs*
