Still sick. Send Starsky & Hutch DVDs.
Mar. 19th, 2009 04:35 pmSo. I am still feeling fairly miserable, though I can tell that I've turned the corner (after 58 of these bastards, I should know). Etsy & eBay have slowed as predicted. I have a new Riptide story burbling in my head.
I have a show on Sunday, and I've been sorting merchandise. That's the good thing about working at home; it doesn't take a lot of effort for me to sit and do something, even though I'm rather energyless. Also, I've been absolutely glutting myself on S&H fanfic. There's a ton of it. This show is even slashier than Riptide, and that's saying something. So I've gotten waaay into Hutch h/c, and I've watched several eps with Hutch h/c overtones on YouTube, and I've found all sorts of amazing S&H resources on the web. A couple Riptide actors have been on the show, in fact; most notably, Quinlan. Anyway, S&H definitely hit a nerve with the public. I look at how much fanfic and how many zines were generated and I'm impressed. Riptide--now, that doesn't seem to have made the same impression, even though it was in the top ten more than once, I believe.
Also, I have been mainlining Miami Vice. For the past few years I've asked for MV DVD sets for my birthday/etc., and at this point I have all five seasons. Now, during the eighties, I was into several shows bigtime, you know, couldn't miss. But the number one of them all was MV. I absolutely loved that show. Way loved. I adored it. I mean, I watched Riptide when I could, but MV? I was planted on the couch for that one every single Friday night.
Well, I haven't even cracked the boxed sets open until two days ago, when I finally watched the last Riptide ep. All this time, I'd see the boxes on my shelf and think, maybe I just blew my birthday money for nothing (though a couple years ago I did watch an ep on TV and it still seemed interesting).
Long story short, I've just watched the first six eps, and OMG. OMG. I love this show. I was so right to love it before, too. It's a good show. You know, I adored Airwolf, but I watch it now and just cringe. MV has a cringe-worthy moment here and there, but holy cow--it's terrific. I watched an ep last night that was enthralling (and that's despite the fact that Bruce Willis was wearing the Silliest Pants Ever). I'm sure that most of this is all due to a healthy dollop of nostalgia, but honestly, I think that the plots are...much better than expected. Though maybe that's just because of what else I've been watching.
And Starsky & Hutch both directed eps of it. lol.
Oh yeah, and Michael Mann wrote for S&H.

OMG I know exactly what you mean. Last year I went from Feb to Sept, and I was so happy and thought I'd figured something out, but then (of course) I had to have one in Sept, and then one in Dec. So there's three in one year. Ugh.

Date: 2009-03-19 10:26 pm (UTC)That's what I did for Riptide--
I haven't exhausted all of my options yet. But I think I have to admit that I will buy them. Husband already rolled his eyes when I said that I thought I might want them. (He pointed out that the binging has already begun, and I will be getting them sooner or later, lol.)
You're so sweet to offer, though, thank you so much!!
And yeah, I feel like I've passed the horrible cough and constant evil stage and I'm onto the next event, which is the not-quite-so-evil stage where I'm just dizzy and out of breath and I don't have to have a tissue box in my hand everywhere I go.

Date: 2009-03-19 11:59 pm (UTC)As far as Vice goes, I've been thinking that Gina & Trudy are waay close, and Switek & Zito (I've misspelled, I'm certain) are (of course) adorable. They set off my slashy alarms like whoa.
Tubbs certainly acts gay at points. But I don't know...I'm not feeling the fic. Yet. Ask me in a couple weeks, after I've gorged. ha!
Yeah, I'm still pretty excited about writing the JT fic. I really do like those Riptide boys...

Date: 2009-03-20 06:38 pm (UTC)But between your memory-lane posts and that new show "Castle" I'm feeling a yearning to track down Moonlighting DVD's and gorging myself on some het UST (WHA!?!?!)

I'm enjoying this tremendously.

Hey, if you're into Riptide, their second to last show was a Moonlighting parody that's pretty funny and cute. "If You Can't Beat 'Em..."
