So, the garage.
Jul. 23rd, 2009 10:43 amThe guy showed up late, but he showed up. I was really hoping for at least $100, but he offered $50 (which I had predicted), so we met at $75. I think I might have been able to talk him higher, but honestly, since he was doing all of the work, I just didn't want to push it.
Anyway, he brought a trailer and his Jeep Cherokee. Not enough room, so he called his wife, who brought her SUV, and they both packed it in, but he still had to come back for another packed-in trip. And he left the giant entertainment center and a couple paintings, and he's supposed to be here again today to pick those up. I don't know if he'll show or not, but the center is huge and heavy, and I'm not certain what we'll do with it if he doesn't.

So you can see--I still have a bit of work to do, and some rearranging, and hopefully the guy'll pick up the entertainment center, too. *crosses fingers* You can see it on the right-hand side. The white table is from the sun porch, so that will be gone, as well as the folding tables, which are my show tables. And I'm going to clean off the plastic shelving units and put them against one end.
I can't wait. Seriously. I felt like I was being psychologically crushed by all the stuff. And the basement is partially clear, now, too! So I'm really excited.
Have a great weekend, y'all! I'll be back on Tuesday. I'm going up north to do a teeny craft show in my parents' teeny town. Should be fun.

Date: 2009-07-23 04:07 pm (UTC)Yep, pretty empty! (Had to say it, lol.)
I can't wait. I feel like this house has potential, and it's just all been crushed under 2439875623984 boxes. Now that I've gotten rid of a ton of it, I feel so much happier.
In fact, I went downstairs and pulled up some more stuff for the guy. He hasn't called yet, which makes me nervous, but hopefully at some point I'll get ahold of him and it'll all work out.
And I second the yay! I'm so geeked. I'm going to use that wood set of shelves for Experimentation. eee! I have some new techniques that require ventilation, and I'm eager to try this out.

Date: 2009-07-23 03:52 pm (UTC)I know exactly what you mean about feeling psychologically crushed by too much stuff. Sometimes the best spirit lifter is getting rid of THINGS and making space!
So, yay.

Date: 2009-07-23 04:17 pm (UTC)My sun porch is full of the stuff that's usually in the garage, so I just went in there today and found more stuff that I meant to give to the guy! So it's good that he's late. He's getting even more things. Plus, it turns out that a bunch of stuff in the sun porch is actually trash! Broken-down cardboard boxes, recycling, and returnables! I'm so excited to get rid of it all. Honestly, I think we'll both be able to park in it!!

Date: 2009-07-23 05:05 pm (UTC)The best part about all of this? We've been storing all of our regular garage stuff in the sun porch, and I just went and looked, and some of it is stuff we can give to the guy--and a lot of it is actually trash! Like, boxes of broken-down boxes. Bags of recycling (we had an issue with the trash service, and it really piled up). I'm so excited, because even when we get it all back in there, it won't be that bad. squee!!
